With equally matched drivers, I would venture to bet the Civic would beat a stock Evo in autocrossing. Not road racing, but autocrossing. It has KW V2s, Toda front sway bar, Neuspeed front x-brace, Neuspeed rear sway bar, Ingalls rear camber kit, and is running about -2.5 camber all the way around. It is making about 230whp.

Your compairing a modded ciivc to a stock evo? Even so, I don't think it would win either way.

nice for a civic, but i dont see how 230whp there would beat a stock ix ... all the ones i have dyno'd are at least 250 to 270 on our mustang here....

With the suspension mods, id say at best its debatable. The evo comes with a pretty decent setup from the factory.... a IX MR would probably make it a pretty decent test

Yikes...beware of the almighty mod'd Civic.

I'd put money on our Civic beating a stock Evo IV in autocrossing. Believe it or not, with its current mods it handles exceptionally well. I can go through corners quicker in our Civic then I can our Turbo S2K or slightly mod'd Evo. Neither the S2K or Evo is a slouch when it comes to spirited driving, but the Civic is very capable.

You need to look at it from a power-to-weight ratio. The Civic is making 230whp and weighs about 2400lbs. A Evo IX makes ~270awd but weighs 3100lbs. Also, the aftermarket suspension on the Civic is > then the OEM suspension on an Evo IX. So, better power-to-weight ratio plus better handling = Civic FTW!

BTW...I am in a better position to talk **** seeing as how I own both Hondas and a Mitsubishi. If I only owned one (which most of do and have probably never owned a Honda) then I would be biased one way or another. However, knowing that I currently own both manufacturer cars I can give my unbiased perspective.

LOL! Like I mentioned earlier--equally competent drivers. I am a novice when it comes to autocrossing, roadracing and drag racing. I have autocrossed the Civic ~4 times and have drag raced it twice. I have autocrossed the S2K once, road raced it once, and drag raced it twice. I have yet to take the Evo to any sort of track, but will drag race it for the first time this upcoming Friday.

Your wife owns the Evo my friend. Does she let you even drive it? I come from the honda world prior as well, but the Evo is known for its suspension, not it's power. Post up some vids when you go autocrossing

We both own all three cars. Marriage = partnership.

We work for the same company and commute together, so we equally drive the Evo.

I believe the Evo is known both for is handling and power.
