boost problem..Please read????????

OK, heres the deal..I bought my evo back in june. When i bought the car it had a boost controller in it..Which i thought was screwed,it was a home depot brass fitting, cheap built mbc..So, my mechanic went through the car..We installed a boost guage, and it was only hitting 11-12 lbs..So, we figured it was only running off WG pressure..So, we removed it..Followed the stock diagram for the factory boost solenoid..Returned it back to what it wouldve been had it remained stock..And still im now only hitting 14lbs..I know im gonna get "you should try search"..But, i already did search, and have been for a coupe days now..Could the stock solenoid be causing the problem???Or any ideas what it could be??Thanks for any help i can get..I am truly stumped on this one..Justin..

Did you use the OEM boost hoses when you put it back to stock? Can't work without them...

Get a pump with a gauge and hook it up to the WG nipple. And pump it to see where the arm moves. See if you have a bad WG actuator.

What kind is the other boost controller, and how do you have it hooked up?
That could be your problem.

The stock lines contain a restrictor pill that allows for the stock level of boost to be hit before it bleeds down and holds. This is a very thought out restriction. Which is why normal lines won't work in conjunction with the stock BCS.

You get the boost/vacuum line assembly from your Mitsubishi dealership parts department. Someone will chime in with the part number. Like I said it comes preassembled, is already cut to length, and includes the two restrictor pills preinstalled as well. It costs about $17.

I have a turbosmart mbc..We tried all the ways that i read while searching..And none seemed to work..Any idea where i could get a restrictor pill from??I am just pissed because i always thought the car felt slow..But, i wasnt sure if i had just gotten used to it,or if there was something else..Whoever owned the car before me,was a moron..I do believe..But, i just want the power that i pay for every month..I will be modding after the first of the year..So, i really just want what i should have..I love every aspect of the car,But i wish it was running right..Thanks for any help..Justin

I have a hallman pro mbc and she goes where I set it.

Wonder if your actuator took a dump?
(odd, considering its so new)

Is is possible your gauge line is pinched? Or sourced from a bad place (like a line shared with a bleeder mbc) and its reading garbage? (Or is just junk)

Dude, you don't mess with restrictor pills. They are already inside the OEM hoses and are why you have to use the OEM hoses in order to run the stock boost system. When using an MBC, you have to NOT use any of the stock hoses. It's one or the other.

We've discussed this countless times, so you can find the part # easily. It's like $15 at Mitsubishiparts.net.

Ok, maybe we have a missunderstanding..I cant use the stock lines, they werent in the car..And the controller was hooked up wrong to begin with..So, i tried to revert back to stock, using the factory boost solenoid..But, because the stock lines with the pills werent there..I am only getting 10-11 lbs of boost..We tried to hook up a turbosmart mbc,but we kept getting the same thing..the highest we got it to reach was 14lbs..Which i know is low for a evo 9..Any ideas??I searched read countless posts..and even used the steps that were posted on how to install the mbc..None of which worked..Justin

Yes, you can - buy them. That's what we're telling you to do.

I haven't answered your MBC question, because I don't believe you did it right.

Learn how the system works and you will fix the problem. Just find the FSM diagram and follow how the air drives the WG actuator, then see what would happen when a MBC is fitted.
