A reasonable clutch for a daily driven evo 8.

I've reached a delimma. After 36,000 miles my stock clutch in my 05 evo 8 is starting to slip under WOT pulls. I don't really have much of an idea of where to look at for a good clutch with good holding power but not a heavy clutch pedal. I also dont feel like paying for a twin disk. Or if its even worth it.

Typically, I drag race the car when it is in season. The last test and tune of the year is next week so I'm not too concerned about running until next year.

When it comes to upgrades, Im looking at just bolt ons. TBE, stock turbo ( evo 8 or 9 ) , Upper and lower IC piping, 272's and nothing much more than that. I've been searching around for a while and I haven't exactly found a good answer or its old data.

Thanks
- Terry

lol

Arent' they the same thing ?

I forgot to add that money is a little bit of a object here too. I'm not really looking forward to spending a large amount of money on a clutch when I can be spending it on going faster.

^^^ That's also what I would recommend, but give it a few minutes, and you'll have a bunch of guys saying the Exedy is the way to go!

We sell and stock both the Exedy organic kit and the ACT HDSS kit, we found the act to hold more power.

Whats the clutch pressure on that ? I commute a lot for work and school and there are times that I'm stuck in traffic. I use to do the same thing in my old awd talon and it had a ACT 2600 that thing sucked to drive in traffic.

Pedal pressure on the ACT is only slightly more than stock. You definitely won't mind it ---- feels like any other vehicle's clutch setup. The only complaint that a few owners have registered is a problem with high-rpm lockout . . . which is corrected by adjusting the clutch pedal engagement point.

The Exedy is a bit more cashola, and doesn't hold as much power either. And don't go thinking that the Exedy's don't have their complaints either --- they draw just as many gripes . . . anything from rattling with the pedal depressed, to sticky engagement and shuddering.

Some of these complaints (for both brands) could be from poor installation, but after a few more pages of commmentary from the gallery, and you'll have plenty of opinions to guide your decision.

Good luck!
