Evo 8 Head and ECU swap with Evo 9
What about putting a 9 engine in a 8 and not connecting up the Mivec? I have a friend with an 8 who spit two rods out the block and he can get a 9 engine at a good price. Do 8 cams fit in the 9 head? I also read that the cam timing is retarded in the 9 if hte mivec is disconnected. Anybody can confirm this?
If you threw in the entire harness, ecu and engine, it would work.
8 cams will not work in 9s. Well, the exhaust will, but the intake will not.
Why disconnect the MIVEC if your going threw the hassle of swapping in the motor?

valcon mivec cam set for the 4g63 is out from HKS .. not a bad price .. close to 1k I think ..
Comes with new valve cover and cam cover, cam and intake cam, oil hose and electronics control unit etc

it would be almost pointless to run a Evo9 engine that doesnt have the mivec running, just stick a evo9 turbo on your 8 and its the same thing for cheaper.
Once your car starts making alot more power the mivec isnt going to help much anymore anyways. If you "NEED" to change your engine and can find a good longblock or head if you need it "requires some extra work putting the 9 on a 8 block", but i wouldnt do the swap if your just bored..........
