Blitz DTT turbo timer -- how to use

I got a manual full of Japanese text. I don't even know why they have some words in English. How do you adjust the contrast on this? Anyone with the english manual care to share with me?

Also, my boost readings are in the negative when I'm under 3000 rpms. Is that right?

When the TT is turned OFF, you can adjust the contrast by pressing the MINUTE and the SECOND button.

I'm pressing the power button until it says OFF. Then I use the minute and second buttons to change the setting from 0-99. Is that it? It doesn't seem to change any contrast.
