SWITZER TUNED EvoGreen, E85, 439HP/454TQ
I would just like to share a little report on how my recent tuning session went. I'd been autocrossing the EVO 9 on an emailed pump gas stock boost tune all year long and when I finally got beat by a Honda Civic (of all things
) I knew it was time to get serious about the power. . .
So I loaded the car up and hauled it down to Switzer Performance Innovation just outside of Wakeman, OH. Tym Switzer has been buiding DSMs and EVOs for years and I've always been impressed with his builds. Lately he has been branching out into Porche and Mercedes tuning, but he hasn't forgotten his roots in the 4G63.
I have to mention his shop. This place is immaculate! All sorts of uber expensive Porsches and crazy EVO projects in various states of build. Never seen the inside of a $30K Porsche engine until now! I think when a shop keeps their workspace this clean and spotless it really tells alot about the attention to detail they will give your car. Just my thoughts
Anyway, Tym wanted to know exactly what I wanted out of this tune. Stump pulling torque, drag race HP, etc. . . I explained the type of racing we do (autocross) and told him I wanted the fattest powerband possible. It had to be able to pull hard out of corners and keep pulling all the way through 8000 rpms. Plus I wanted it tuned on E-85. This is how it turned out:

As you can see, the car makes over 350whp from 4000 to 8000 rpm, and over 400whp from 5000 to 7500 rpm! Compared to pump gas the new tune makes 150HP more at 5500rpm just by cranking up the boost and retuning for E85. This fuel is absolutely amazing!
Here are the pertinent power mods on my 2006 EVO 9 RS:
- Switzer reflashed stock ECU
- FP EVO Green/BR 20G-LT
- Nisei IC pipes
- ARC 079 intercooler
- GSC S1 cams
- PPI ported/coated exhaust mani
- Works 02 housing and DP
- ASpec Ti cat delete
- Greddy Ti cat back
- Hallman MBC
- 880 cc injectors
- Sun Auto hyper ignition
- Walbro 255
- stock intake, throttle body, intake mani, head, bottom end
- running E85 from the local gas station @ $2.49 per gallon
When I got the car back and took it out on the AX course I was like HOLY SH*%!! That thing was an absolute monster. I never though it would be possible to have TOO MUCH power, but I was wrong. My skill couldn't keep up with the car, so we had to turn the boost down a bit until I could control it. After spending more time in the car I think I've finally caught up to the power potential. It's going to be a fun 2008, that's for sure!!!
I need to say THANKS! to Buschur and FP for developing a great turbo, GSC for the killer cams, and most of all to Tym Switzer for taking this combination of parts and making an amazing powerband.

I would upgrade the fuel lines to r30j9 line from autozone, or the like. It's about $4 a foot, but won't corrode, and you don't need that much for your car. I would leave the steel lines, as they should be fine.

BA numbers for sure! Bet it's a blast!!

Great DJ numbers. What was it corrected?
This makes me want to swap to new injectors and run E85 w/ my Green.
E85 being a green fuel when combined with an FP EvoGreen turbocharger, is this now considered an environmentally friendly vehicle?

. I guess as long as you can get E85 by your house, it's not biggie to switch over. I haven't seen it near my house. Jason
Great numbers!!! I love my setup as well, I'm a Little more Conservative than you I'm peaking 25 and falling to 21. Making about 400. Whats your timing at? any knock at those boost levels on the street?

awesome numbers... im thinking to put fp evo green as well but i heard that oem con rods will fail...
is it truth? with my mods (from sig) will it be safe just to put the turbo ad run at 30 psi???
now on my stock turbo im runing 24 psi peak going to 21psi to redline on the street and for drag 26 psi to 23 to redline.
any advice?
