Need advice on a problem.

I want to give a background story before I get into the problem. Well I went to drag strip on saturday and ran C16, the car is tuned for it. For my second ran, I waited a long time, when they finally called our lane I start the car then it dies. I tried to get it started but nothing, after like 5 mins it finally started and ran fine. Since then I seem to hear a noise when I start my like its coming from the starter. Now fast foward to yesterday, I get out of work I try to start the car and nothing, the car turnsover for second and then makes that noise if you would turn the key to start the while its on (humming noise lol) So then I had my friend come by with a booster and the car started but not that well. After that I drove the car home, everything is fine. Now I get up this morning and the car starts right up, it does make a slight noise on start but starts right up.

Also since this happened, I get swoosh noise in between shifts without being on boost, I am running an Exedy Twin Plate HD, is that normal?

I am also running a mini battery which is month old, so I am wondering how can this be the batteries fault if its basically new? Also can a starter be bad eventhough the car starts?

Check your plugs.

If you were just sitting around ideling or inching up in the staging lanes starting and stopping the motor i bet they are fouled.

I am going to change them, I usually change my plugs pretty often.

Good stuff.

fwiw - I have a Nesei small batt. and it had trouble after the car sat for a few weeks when i re-built the motor.

We had to jump it a few times but it eventually went back to normal operation since then

Good luck finding your problem!

Well I just got back from the shop, we took off the starter and we reached a conclusion that starter is not fully engaging when the car is starting. On a positive note, the flywheel still looks good.

Here is my decision, buy a used starter for $50 plus shipping or rebuilt my starter with OEM parts for $120?

As far as the noise its not a belt noise, its sounds like metal on metal.
