death whine? or tranny gone bad? help.

I think i have a death whine again. I had it before and replaced the T-case.
But this time its kinda different. I think the whine is coming from the transmission.
It only whines when its in gear. when i pull it out to nuetral it doesn't whine.
And ever since i had the whine i hear this clicking noise from under the car.
anybody now what this symptom would be? And i know how loud a T-case whine is and it's not quite that loud but still whines pretty loud.

When does it whine?

I'm fighting a problem that I think is TC as well. Regarding your symptom, when does the sound occur? Under acceleration? Light throttle? On compression?

Describe the sound.

My symptom happens on deacceleration on compression. The sound goes from a rattling noise to a low-frequency, almost a bell-like sound at higher rpm, when I back off. I think of it as a bell being cut by a buzz saw. There is no unusual noise on acceleration.

Maybe by getting more detailed we can get some input from others who have had the same problems and find out what they did to solve it/them.

Thanks,

Steve
