removing trans ?'s
removing trans ?'s
Basically i'm having 5th gear sycro problems and wanted to know inorder to remove the tranny i know you have to remove the transfercase and then disable it from the clutch, if the clutch has been "abused" and is stuck on there "seized" on there, would you have to break the clutch in order to remove the tranny? or no matter what the tranny should come out with out messing with the whole clutch assembly? and replacing the clutch?
Any How-to's on tranny removal and installs? on a tranny? thank you

Trust me, when I installed my 6-puck, these instructions made it so easy. We used a engine hoist to lower the trans cause it's a tight fit. As far as getting the trans to break away from a seized clutch, just separate it really slow. After you remove all the bolts, the trans doesn't just slide off. You really have to muscle it from side to side, up and down till it breaks loose. Since the throw out bearing is a locking one, it's imperative that you break it loose as it says in the instructions or you could damage the trans shaft.

you do not have to remove the transfercase, just move it aside. hold it with a bungy. do you know about the shafts in the t.case that need removed??? and getting the throw out bearing to disengage can be done by hitting the clutch fork with a large hammer int the direction of the engine. you may break the lock ring of the throw out bearing, but you should probably replace that anyways. sometimes its the only thing that will work
