Aluminum VS Carbonfiber Driveshaft
weight & stiffness - CF drive shafts tend to be lighter (lower inertia = more responsive engine), and they also flex in comparison to a metal drive shaft. That flex gives you less severe shock loads on the rest of the driveline (TC and rear diff) which can save things from breaking in high HP/TQ cars.

even if you use the 2:1 equation for sprung/unsprung your gonna spend $2500 for 30lb weight reduction? Not unless I'm 100% maxxed out looking for every last ounce of performance.
I am pretty sure someone else here just got that one from AMS and it was only around $2300. I can imagine the level of quality and fit this part must have, not to mention what it can do for the car, I dont think the price is that unreasonable. AMS has one on there drag car and after seeing it run 8.7 seconds at DSM Shootout, that pretty much has me sold on it!

Aluminium shafts are much less expensive, and give some additional cushioning of the torque loads as well. They also are lighter than stock by quite a bit, and are more durable than a CF shaft, so there are some pros to the aluminium shafts as well at 1/3 of the cost.
