14 psi stock?
where would this be located? in the end of the bcs or in the hose going to the bcs?
do you remove this when you install a aftermarket boost controller?
i havent used any lower than 91 octane but could the factory ecu be in a boost
limiting mode due to low grade fuel use or is this boost too low?

There are two pills in the stock hoses; one by the turbo and one by the BCS. Before I'd worry about that too much though, I'd do a boost leak test as others have suggested.

and if i find one missing where would you go about getting a replacement?
dosn't works make somekind of replacement "pill thing"???
i am running the defi blue racer guage.
had it teed into the BOV line, just to make sure that wasnt the source of my problem i took that out and teed into the fuel pressure regulator hose BEFORE
the solenoid.
Same results 13 psi gradually rising to 16 or 17 by redline.
took the chance to check for the bcs "pills".
just to clarify the "pills are in the hoses and not in the nipple of the bcs and the
nipple on the turbo outlet pipe right????????????
There are no pills in my hoses and it looks as though the hoses running from the bcs to turbo have been cut at one time. ends look all frayed.
which means this thing probably had a controller on it at one time.
would the lack of the bcs "pills" cause my problem. if so i'll just buy a boost controller and be done with it.
when you install the boost controller you just hook it inline with the hose from turbo outlet pipe to the wastegate right? and just eliminate the factory boost control solenoid altogether right? (granted you leave it bolted to the car and plugged in so the computer sees it).
noticed a couple things with the veh apart. enclosed pics.
one pic shows what i assume is the resistor for the cooling fans with a unplugged connector on the side. connector faces the pass side of car.
i can't find a connector that plugs into this, so i assume its unused.
can anyone verify?
second pic shows a hose holder on the stock filter to turbo rubber pipe that is not holding a hose. can anyone tell me what hose went in this holder and where it goes to so i can investigate if i have missing parts. besides the "pills"

PS checked all intercooler hose clamps for tightness. i highly doubt there is a boost leak. but i will check tommorow. also all hoses to bcs and wategate were connected

If you have no pills, that is probably your problem.
A MBC would hook up just as you describe. Leave the BCS plugged in electrically so that the ECU is happy, else you'll get a code.

If you want the stock pills, you have to buy the hose "set" from Mitsu unless you can find someone willing to sell theirs. This is the simplest way to go.
You can also get replacements or make them yourself by carefully drilling into a brass rod. I currently run a single pill next to the turbo drilled with a #65 bit which I bought from Naj here on evom. If you go the non-stock route you'll have to be willing to take the time to tune for it somehow of course. I use a JDM boost sensor, Evoscan and Ecuflash. (You have to be able to log boost which is why I mention the boost sensor.)

i shouldn't have to tune much if i just set it at stock boost levels with a new MBC
right???
i remember in my olds dsm's that removing the restrictor in the end of the stock
bcs RAISED boost pressure!
If only the pill that was near the BCS was missing, then that might be true.
But there is another pill in the line to the WGA.
Without that pill the boost built goes directly to the WGA, which has a 12psi internal spring.
As soon as the boost reaches 12 psi, the WGA starts to push open, and you are done.
Now, I'm not sure how the BCS cycling will affect this. I almost think your BCS isn't working.
