How much boost??

So far I have a greddy sp2 cat back, turbo xs downpipe, evo 9 bov, mbc, and a reflash. I am currently boosting 18 psi....What would be the highest I could go without doing any damage? I'm lookin for more reliability than just gettin as much horsepower as I can. THX

I wouldnt run too much more boost than you're tuned for, if you want to run more boost get tuned for it...boosting a lot more will cause damage if you dont change timing, fuel etc.

You could probably go to about 22 psi. Be sure to set the timing advance correctly for the adjusted pressure though.

Thx for the help guys I will not bump up boost until I get a tune.

One thing I noticed before I installed the boost controller was that my car would boost up to 20 psi then drop to 16. For a stock 05 rs that cant be rite......does that mean the previous owner did some modifications to the vehicle? I'm really curious now

factory boost for a 05 is peak 20.3 taping to 16. So it seems right.

A tune is going to be 250- 450$ depending on where you go. So do all the power mods you feel you need to do than get a tune. In the mean time I would not be blasting the gas pedal or playing with the boost. If- as you say in your OP (i want to be safe) remember every time you change the air, exhaust, or fuel you should get a tune.

Thanks for the advice...as I know I need to be patient. I bought the car not thinking I would mod it at all and look what happened. lol
