Evo ix backfiring??

i was wondering if anyone else have this issue,nearly every time,mostly in 1st or
2nd gear when i let of the throttle in around 2.5,3rpm car backfires,bang,pop.its not anti-lag tho.the car is stock,part hks mushroom filter and bov.
it actually sounds good but what is causing it? dont want to cause any damage

do you have an a VTA BOV or Turbo back exhaust or no CAT? You're running rich, probably that's why you're backfiring. Plus if you install an open element filter you need to get it tuned, it will cause drivability issues.

i have an ssqv and hks filter.i tought they would run lean with open filter?

I believe you are right about leaning out w/o tuning. I'd get it flashed and see what happens.

Venting your BOV to atmosphere is causing your engine to run rich when you let off the gas since you're letting out a lot of metered air.

your maf is not designed for a vta bov, hence when you are releasing that built up boost, it is still supplying the engine with fuel for that air being released, causing you to run rich when shifting/venting in general.
