2.0 or 2.3 better?

I had a 2.3 with a 35R for about a year... I'm currently building a 2.0.

Stay 2.0... The 2.3 gives you better spool and fantastic torque, but kinda limits you to the 35r. Most larger turbos require more revs than the 2.3 can safely handle...

It really depends on your driving style, but I'm done with the 2.3s...

2.0 vs 2.3 ... this turbo vs that ... it always boils down to what you want to do with the car. If you know what you ultimately want, then the choices become much clearer.

I run a 2.0 with a GT37R kit and I purposly put the turbo on first before I built the motor becuase I was in the same delima. After running the turbo on the stock 2.0 I was so impressed that I stayed with the 2.0 for my built long block from AMS. There just isn't any question with it, if you are looking for good traps and high revs without worry go with the 2.0.

But is the torque early enough on the street that the power band is actually useable below 60mph?

I can just see myself having to downshift to first in order to pass somebody at 40mph. And it doens't seem feasible.

It is very useable, If I took you for a ride you wouldn't even know it was a GT37R in the car. Trust me I had a GT3076 before and the 37R is only a few hundred rpm later and it makes more power at lower boost so honestly power at lower rpms just isn't a problem. The main reason I wanted to test it becuase I was going to buy a 2.3 on a 37r but after using it on a 2.0 I couldn't believe how streetable it was. In 3rd gear I can get 22psi before 5k (4800-4900) easily, along with more power at lower boost normal every day driving is not a problem at all.

I dont have a build 2.0 or 2.3 but i say a built 2.0 or 2.1 is the way to go. You can just compensate with the higher revs which i think its great to be able to just keep pulling to 10k now 11k with kigley springs on a built head. All the fastest cars are 2.0's. Daves white RS is a 2.0 also right ?

I believe this has been said but here ya go:

2.3 liter for GT30R through the 35R

2.0/2.1 for 37R through 45R

Find a car with a 2.3 liter in it and go for a ride or drive it.....

the torque is awesome, and I was wrong on AMS TA Car it was running 10.53 @ 135 MPH..... with a 2.3 liter GT35R

If you ask me how could you go wrong with a 2.3 liter 35R car that is extremely suitable for everyday driving and still go to the track and run low 10's on it.. If someone is going to complain about running low 10's they need to get themselves checked.

Look at Dan B. He ran extremely quick times with a 2.3 liter then got more serious and went to a 2.1 42R I believe.....

All around street car go with a 2.3 if it's going to be a high revin drag car 2.1

DONE!!

but it depends if you are only doing drag or not.

if he had a 50 trim turbo would you still say a built 2.0 and rev it to 10k?? the turbo would die.....

I dunno man, so many options

I still say though if your 90% street car a 2.3 is a killer setup.

I agree, if you are a street racer and are more focused on the street a 2.3 is going to be best for you.

since there are many questions and set ups going around what would you guys say about a 2.3 with a fp green? i would think there would be hardly any perceptable lag with this set up. not that im ready to build anything just yet, but for research purposes for a future project my goals would be to have a great all around car that if im cruising in 4th, or 5th at low rpms and i decide to hit it, i dont want to have to wait for the power to come on. the more torque, and less lag the better for me.

I'm actually going 2.3 with the 37R and hope to do low 10's..
even 9's.

However, this is with the new ams 2.3 that can be revved to 9K

Also..not sure how much sense this makes...

but can't you adjust gearing to suit?

longer first gear, final gear etc?
