ACT Street Disc
I've had my ACT performance street disk with xtreme pressure plate and prolite flywheel for a little more than 1K miles and I love it. Engagement is very smooth. I haven't experienced any problems so far.
any sprung hub, single disc organic clutch is going to suffer the same lockout issues as the others. It's all about weight of the disc, and weight vs. diameter of where the weight is. All the aftermarket clutches are still working with the stock transmission synchros, and there's the rub.
ACT makes a good product, as well as Exedy, but recommending one over the other is nothing more than preference, or price. High rpm lockout is just as easily (probably moreso) caused by a warped disc, warped flywheel due to heat, improper adjustment, or balled up friction material. The latter four being caused by operator error, not product integrity.
I have an ACT HDSS and I'm happy with it.

ACT HDSS seems to be the best at the moment and for street driven Evo's nothing can really beat it. The Exedy Stage one (Oraganic clutch kit) is $100 less but according to some people it doesn't hold as much as the ACT. The only thing about the ACT is that you need to adjust it more often? It's a hit or miss with it, most people haven't had problems with lock out. It also depends who's doing the clutch install. From my personal experience, stay away from the Xtreme street disc clutch kit. The pedal is REALLY stiff and if this is a street car and daily driven, you might not want or even need something like it.

ACT makes a single Street Disc that can be used with either Standard Duty (SD), Heavy Duty (HD), or Xtreme Duty (XT) pressure plates... but all kits use the same disc.
I'd strongly recommend either the HD or XT... preferrably the XT, which can be had as a complete kit on eBay for $550 or so.
Be careful not to buy the puck version, which is slightly cheaper.... this is race only and is NOT for daily driving.

I have the HDSS with a Fidanza flywheel, and honestly, I can't tell any difference between it and the stocker from a pressure standpoint. I know it holds more power, but I can't help but feel like I've got the best of both worlds now --- and by all means, call Chris @ Nolimitmotorsports for the best price on Evom! We've all shopped the beyotch to death, and he's sitting on the best offer around.
The ACT HDSS is just a great compromise for us daily drivers!
BTW, a lightweight flywheel in a great way to go as well!

+1 for Chris @Nolimitmotors. Bought my exedy clutch from him before and am going to buy another clutch from them when my current one goes. Great service and very fast shipping.
