Aside from potentially increasing valvetrain noise (increases potential for false knock counts) and increased valvetrain maintenance, there is simply no good reason to use solid lifter cams in this application.

There are 1000+whp EVOs turning 10k rpm without issue using hydraulic cams/lifters, so unless you plan on exceeding this level of operation (which I seriously doubt), you are just inviting potential issues and will likely gain nothing in return.

FYI

My HKS cams are solid and weigh more than the stock hollow cams. I haven't had an issue with them.

I think he was referring to solid cams, not solid lifters. The only company I know of that has hollow aftermarket cams is Helix, and not many people choose those. Practically all Evo's that have aftermarket cams in them have solid cams.

I never heard of the cam maker, what made you go this route?

I think if you stick to a maker we all know ie hks, buddy club, cossie etc you should not have a problem

I think most of the after market cams are solid.... I have the HKS 272's and haven't had any trouble at all.... I know some people have louder lifters, and valves because of it, my car wasn;t affected at all by this... I'm sure weight, and strength is the other real difference between the two.....

thanks for all the replies i was under the impression that the hks and gsc cams were hallow like the stock cams

i went with the blox because they a local to me and my friend has an account with blox

if you guys are interested i can get them for around 260 a set but they only come in sets so no mixing unless different buyers want different configurations
