Gear Lockout?
After driving on the hiway for about 20 minutes I exited and as I'm driving and try to shift into 5th gear it wont go in. I keep trying and it wont go in but its not grinding or anything. This morning I go to work and shift 5th and it works fine? Whats this about.
Do you have the stock bushings at the transmission end of your shift cables, or did you replace them with the solid bushings? Several people have reported mechanical lockout due to the solid bushings seizing up sporadically. Take a look under the hood, maybe disconnect the shift cables and see if they're going back and forth smoothly, check the transmission shift linkage movement with the cables off and see if they move freely, and you'll have a good idea whether it is a linkage or cable issue, or whether it's internal.
