Prostreet Cam gears - STAY AWAY -

On saturday while driving my car for a bit, I began to hear a tapping sound. I immediately popped the hood and notice that my intake cam gear had lost 3 of its bolts and had advanced itself +12 degrees.

After taking the zaklee clear cam gear cover off, found out that the bolts had most likely danced around in there and ended up shredding the timing belt. So now I have to replace the timing belt as well. I have since switched these ****ty cam gears out for tomei.

This is just a warning for anyone else running these cam gears. If you plan to continue using them at least remove the crappy buttonhead allan bolts that are provided and replace them with something that can be tightened down more.

I think I saw another thread on here not too long ago where another evo owner was driving and the same camgears did something similar and he ended up blowing up his motor.

You could use Locktite Blue/Medium Strength. I've used that on my Vishnu cam gears for a number of years now with no problems. You can still loosen the bolts without destroying them and make your adjustments.

Yeah, fortunately I no longer have to worry about these gears...

This happens to every upgraded cam gear. This is something you have to check once and a great while. I use to check mine once a week. The motor vibration slowly backs them out.
