rmr Clutch

For $199 is it just the clutch disk? So far the consensus has been that the pressureplate (Stock) doesnt have enough clamping force.. so no matter what disk you replace it with, may eventually have problems unless the pressureplate is also upgraded.

I have the RMR 6 puck disc in my car, and everything was well. Feels like stock (since it uses the stock pressure plate), and it definitely holds the power. I never get the burnt smell that I had with the stock clutch. As far as holding the pwer, this thing is great.
Now the bad part... about 3 weeks after the disc went in, the car developed a weird noise. If you guys think the tranny deceleration noise is bad, you'll die from this. No lie, it sounds like the car is about to cease any second. At first it was a high pitched but low volume noise. In the course of maybe 3 days after the first sound it made, it's become full blown hell!! Right now, the car makes a grinding metal noise on acceleration. It's almost like a wheel bearing whine, but different. Sounds so sick. It's disgusting. Makes the same noise on deceleration when out of gear. If you're in gear, coasting, it makes a weird rattling noise. I know of other people that just developed these noises also with this clutch. After this post, I am going to contact RMR to see what's the deal. I'm not sure if I got a disc from a bad batch, or this is just the way the discs are. I have about 2500 or so miles on this clutch. Some of you might tell me it's transmission or transfer case parts. I've had both of these opened up and everything inside is perfect. Been stuck with this noise for about a month now and had no idea what it was till this week.
Anyway, I'll keep you all posted on what happens.
OK, just got off the phone with Eric from RMR, and he insists that the clutch discs are good, and that he sold a whole bunch of them and nobody has had a problem. He says it could be a bad throw out bearing installation that's making the noise, from it grinding away at itself. I will have the tranny off the car and looked at to see if that's the case. He said if the disc does look wrecked, as in manufacturer's defect, he will send it back to the people he gets them from and see what they say. As of right now, I need to get this out to see what's going on.
Anyone else here having problems?
