Tranny Noises on my MR -- is it death whine?

Well.....more problems with this car.

The past week or so I have been getting a whining noise from the transmission when I engage the clutch in 1st or Reverse.

It usually happens when I am slipping the clutch to get it up the driveway in Reverse. Sounds like a metallic whine. I thought my clutch was getting condensed water on it due to it getting cold at night and causing the squealing noise. But the other day it did the noise even after I had been driving around.

Not really sure on this.

Car has 9000 Miles
-Diff fluid/Trans/Transfer Case all were drained at 3K and replaced with stock fluids
-Never launched/never dumped clutch/never shifted hard

Does it smell like burnt organic disc? The Evo makes alot of noises so its hard to tell if its normal or not without being there and hearing it yourself. I would stop slipping the clutch though, everytime you do that you dramatically reduce the life of your clutch so make sure its worth slipping that clutch.

Ugh....yah always replaced with OEM fluids.

To get into my driveway (steep) I have to back up. I don't think I have ever actually fully engaged the clutch in reverse. I am always slipping it to make sure I am not rocketing backwards into anything.

This only happens low speed. Like 0-5 MPH engaging 1st or Reverse.

What type of clutch do you have installed? Did you upgrade your clutch? Dual disk clutches are known to make loud moaning noises when being engaged. If it is happening after the clutch is engaged, it may be a part in your transmission. If it is happening during the clutch engagement, it most likely is your clutch.
