not really. taking out the tranny is a pain, plus i think i've got enough knowledge to do this in car. if not, i will be posting j/k i can do this.

i've taken off the head many times. done it in half a day. from there it's just taking off the oil pan, rods, pistons and measuring the bores and the new pistons to get the correct clearances. pretty simple.

taking out the balance shaft means takin out the engine. the balance shaft is as long as the cams and you cant pull it out of the side of the engine due to clearance issues.

i'm not replacing main bearings. to do them, i'd either have to use a roll-out pin (which i don't want to do it that way) or take off the tranny to be able to get the crank out of place and get at the bearings.

Your build sounds like she'll be a beast. I think i met you at BIR this summer. I had the GG IX. Good luck with everything and see you at the track this spring.

I just finished installing buschur rods and pistons in my friends car. We did the build in car. Cam out very nice. Only difficult part was setting the timing back up after rotating the motor after each rod and piston went in to make sure it was smooth. All that work can be done in a day if need be.

One thing i was always advised to do is to not run the Iriduim plugs on higher than stock boost levels, and other mods.... I have a 2.3L stroker, 35r, hks 272 cams, ems, and tons of other thing, and i made on pump 526 awhp on 20 psi, and 630 awhp on 29 psi on race gas (C-16)..... I'm running just the NGK BPR8ES, and now have just tried the BPR9ES.... I would use this plug instead of the Iridium plug

yeah, i remember. we talked for a little bit. i didn't get the chance to take a look at your setup though. the funny thing on your first run was the the announcer said that your car was interesting, as if he'd never seen an evo run faster than 13's before. i was thinking, wow, this guy must not know anything about our cars.

anyways, at that time, i was having a boost leak and found out my wastegate actuator wasn't holding boost at all. most i was boosting that day was 15 psi.

why is that? i always thought that iridium had a finer tip, reducing the required voltage to ionize the gap.
