Odd thing happened while driving

I was driving my evo to the store blah.... w/e, I was waiting on a hill to turn left in the turning lane. My light was red but the lane next to me for the people going straight was green. A civic with a crazy loud exhaust passed by and immediately my evo felt like it was going to stall. so i looked quickly at the tach and saw that it was 500rpms and the lights had slightly dimmed. after the car passed everything went back to normal. what on earth happened. TY

I think the exhaust gas almost killed your car. All that oil and unburnt gas from his exhaust breathed in from your intake

I don't know the answer either. As much time as you spent telling him to search you could have answered his question and been done with it.

loud noises mess with the MAF. its nowhere near as bad if you have the stock bafled air box. the same thing happens when a muscle car with open headers revs right next to you.

It's called the "civic fart". Your evo was holding it's breath for too long and almost passed out (stalled). My evo does it also when I let one rip with the windows down.

I keep forgetting to try this. My exhaust is damn loud and I have been to a few Evo meets. Next time I'm gonna test the theory.

i was guessing that the vibrations were messing with the engine some how. i was thinking of the knock sensor theory i heard once. but the maf one sounds better to me cause it felt exactly like it when my k&n airfilter popped off and the idle went a lil crazy.
