which turbo...on my built engine?
i have the 3065 and am very happy with it.... The s1 cams are just going to help you spool faster so that actually an advantage...
Going with the larger s2's will make you more power up top but your spool will suffer.
It makes better #'s on pump than most other turbos... I'm going to guess i should be around 450whp, 122-123 trap on pump gas.
i rarely see 35rs over 118-120 on pump gas and they spool much slower.
Cheers!

Huh? they do make IX cams, and yes they are very aggressive too! I have them in my IX.
See if this thread helps you at all in your decision.

The green will be a lot of fun driving around, but may not give you the pull up top on the highway that you may want. The 3065 or 3076r would probably be your best choice. Good spool and a lot of potential.

i am in the process of building my eninge...with cp pistons 85.5s 9:1 compression ratio and hks rods.i have a ported head / springs & retainers / AMS vsr / GSC s1 cams / head studs / boost control / greddy FMIC + upper and lower pipes / and the whole nine yards..i have every single bolt on possible...stock ecu and a very good tuner
i am running the stock turbo now @ 26.5psi on 94pump yielding about 400hp/420trq
i am ready to go to the next level...built 2.0 and a bigger turbo...however i will only be on pump.. pushing about the same boost ~26-27psi.
i got 3 questions which i would appreciate some input on:
1-any better combo to go with in terms of pistons and rods over cp and hks?
2-FP green or BR3065?
3-if i go 3065..do you recommend i step up to the S2 cams?
my car never does road racing nor auto-x...i street and/or drag race....which would be more beneficial for me on the straights?
thanks in advance

why build motor? 30 or green do no require it and basically cant be pushed to the point to damage the stock motor. on top of this 26 psi is mid range for both of the turbos you listed (basically the hair dryer effect for the green)
I have some good video footage of a 3065 on pump 104/93 (3 gallons each) only pushing 26psi VS a evo green pushing 28psi on meth. both cars had 99% bolt ons, absolutely NO internal work (execpt cams)
If you would like them PM me and i will send them so you can get an idea, but i cannot post them because i got warned once.
My personal opinion... Get a 35/37 on that built motor, and run pump and meth at 26psi and treat that fully built motor the way it deserves...

im planning on running 24 pounds on pump and 30-32 on meth
Its the better street turbo... great for rolls and just fun driving... you dont have to slam gears with this turbo so avoid lag between shifts... I'm still not pushing the car yet so i cant give a full review yet. But i have tuned another at 20 pounds on a stock motor and it just sold me on it
Its more than that though...
lets say we take a 35r on 22 pounds and make 400whp, then take a 3065 on 22 pounds and make 400whp... The 3065 will spool about 500rpms faster and will run out of breath sooner too so youll have a much flatter power band. The 35r is going to make great power until way up...
The smaller turbo with more boost to make that same power will also make more trq. Its just more fun to drive around. I'm seeing boost at 2k and loving it...
Just around town playing 2-4500 not going crazy it doesnt feel any slower or laggy than my stock turbo which was my goal in selecting a turbo.. While a 35r i just recently tuned was barely seeing boost until 3k so it felt very lancerish and boring and required a downshift while cruising around to accelerate.
Its all based on opinion, thats why there are so many options and so many kits.
the 3065 can also be maxed out with 880's and a single walbro.. if you step up to a 35r and really want to make more power than a 3065 can make its going to destroy more parts and need more fueling which may eventually force you to buy a AEM which i 110% dont want to do.
Cheers!
i want to also add i would stick with the s1's unless youre big on drag racing... That will aid spool and give you more torque.. The s2's will shift your power band further back and give you more top end.
I got a very good deal on the cosworths and thats teh only reason i have them or i would have gone s1's
If you want me to keep you updated on the progress of my car i can do that.. I'm dealing with a few minor issues then ill be ready to start tuning it.
We basically have the same plan, nothing crazy in the motor i just did the je dropin pistons and crower rods with a nice hone.
Cheers!

one more question though...how much power do you think you will be making with the pump map at 24psi? lets say on a dyno dynamics dyno...just a rough figure off the top of your head?!
thanks.

Thats why i suggested the larger turbo. get the full use out of your previous investment the built motor that is
dxbevo9----- You need to check this thread out, it will give You lots of info as it is directly related top what you are asking.

DB tuned a HTA35r and it has WICKED torque...most impressive,,,to get you ot of the hole, and like lots of people you can spray to overcome any lag which there is almost None with this setup.... Jun 272's....just check out the thread and drool over all that Torque down low....made me re-think my way of thinking for my buildup down the road.....
