Chad - Can you please provide some insights on this. Why would the larger primaries on the open scroll cause an issue?

Doesn't the size of the primaries play an important role in a twin scroll manifold?

Too big & it could cause turblence & slow down the exhaust, but if they were too small they would be a restriction?

Am I on base here?

in my opinion, the FR runners are quite small, significantly smaller than the exhaust ports, or any other manifold we've ever used...

the open scroll we had built with larger runners....

ill let you know the data i get from the testing...

car is BR 2.3, BR head, hybrid 30/35ish turbo..... aem.... etc etc..

Chad - Thanks for the insights on this, as I appreciate it. I've seen David B. provide similar comments in another thread about FR Twin scroll manifolds.

Is this a common trend from Full Race or only on their Twin Scroll manifolds?

I would love to hear from Full Race/Geoff on why they made them so much smaller......

We use many different primary diameters depending on the application. In fact we use 4 different runner diameters for Evos alone -- (prostock, prostreet singlescroll T3, twinscroll T3 and T4, and 42R twinscroll). It really isnt as small as you might think. smaller than most? For sure. Too small? Definitely not. anyone saying they are too small or too restrictive just doesnt understand the dynamics of the system well enough

I also can't see the value of a HTA35R's compressor on a GT30 turbine (30/35 HTA) . I guess if it was done you would Call it a GT3082 HTA .

Something that IMO deserves investigation is the opposite way around or a GT35 turbine with the 7/14 blade compressor FP uses on their HTA30R .
Even using near std Garrett parts you can do this , take one std GT3076R and exchange the GT30 for a GT35 turbine and housing . Garrett do this with diesel spec turbines and housings in the large frame plain bearing unit known as a GT3576 . Isuzu and Hino I believe use a BB vearion with the GT4088R type center section .
I have a plain bearing one partially in bits and the housings are relatively speaking huge GT40 type things , T4 flanged 1.17 A/R turbine and 0.65 compressor housings .

Food for thought .

Geoff , my guess is that your primary pipe dimensions are based on pressure drop figures rather than flow figures ? Also I'd imagine big bore pipes into a split flanged T3 sized housing probably don't pay off like they would with the cavenous by comparison dual T4 ports ?

Cheers A .

This might be a stupid question, but it's a serious one...

"What's the difference in going with a T4 set-up vs a T3 in TS?"

I went to your website and saw you offer both combinations, but I have absolutely no clue which one of the two I would benefit from for me goals... Thanks again for the update... Sounds very promising Geoff!!!

T3 twinscroll really only makes sense if you are staying 30R

for 35R+, go T4 twinscroll

there are a lot of differences, but i dont want to go into too much detail on a public forum.. feel free to email me privately if you have any specific questions
