Great replies guys
OP Should probably post in Newbie section...

What I believe the OP is referring to is possibly; What is the advantage of running a bigger wastegate, say 50mm with a smaller exhaust housing on the turbo...

I see a'sploded evos in your future...

The waste gate is the gate that lets out waste air. And yeah a turbo will spool faster if smaller, but make less boost.

Basically what your asking is, "Why not turn up the boost on a smaller turbo"

You can only do this to a certain point before the turbo is out of its "efficiency". This is the point where the turbo is blowing hot air and the intake temps will rise. Many people combat this by adding meth injection which will allow you to use a smaller turbo, turn up the boost, push it past its efficiency, reduce knock, and cool intake temps. But there is a certain point where the turbo will reach a limit for flowing enough CFM for the amount of power you want to make.
