My new Buschur Racing engine and car build up for 8's !
I have been very busy the last few months since I went 9.50 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0oBzJ5gTAs -
on July 22, 2007
In August I broke my transmission and engine making it to the final round of the WRX vs Evo Shootout import race at Englishtown
Its amazing how the time just passes you by and how working on customer's cars has simply taken all my time.
Its snowing here and tuning is slowing down for the holidays so I found some spare time and decided to start my new year's resolution a bit early and my goals are to loose 20 lbs and also get my Evo running again - there is so much work to do and I have been procrastinating
This thread will go through my process step by step as I get the car back together and do a few upgrades to try and get the car into the 8's in 2008
Thanks to my friends at Buschur Racing for doing such a wonderful job on my machine work
Very few people know this but Buschur has a world class racing engine builder directly accross the street from them in lonely Wakeman, OH with crank balancers, flow benches, engine dynos etc etc etc. The work that Buschur Racing does on its engines is second to none.
Here is my new Aluminum Rod race short block

I use these special high strength Buschur head studs which hold loads of TQ

Here is the O-ringed deck

Head back on with my JUN cam back in service

The head porting is my own spec done by a local machine shop - seems to work very well. Its a very hogged out job on the intake side as you can see.
You can see the Buschur race valves down in the ports

Its been a productive weekend - more progress to follow

I missed a 2 - 3 shft and went into 1st by mistake (it pegged my 10,000 rpms tach) that screwed up my tranmission so I had to double shift to try and finsih the race
On the next pass one of the rod's broke clean in half at the end of the 1/4 at 144 mph ! That made for an interesting OH **** moment when 5 quarts of oil on fire splattered all over the track and windshield.
At the time i was very happy as I had won the race and made it to yet another final of the WRX vs EVo Shootout - however after a while I started to realize just how costly that mishap had been
I was so frustrated I pushed the car into a back lift at work and its sat there ever since.
All in all it was a great year with the Evo
I got my NHRA 9 second license and also got my car to run 9.5 which were the goals I started the season with
In between I was playing with my Subaru STI - I got it to go 11.1 @ 127 with the stock engine and ecu. The Subaru project was so much fun and I was so busy at work that I never found time to get the Evo project going again. I just sent the Subaru motor out to Darton to get sleeved so I have a month of down time on that project.
It feels really good to be back at it with the Evo.

Glad to see you are getting her put back together. I remember helping you push your car back onto your trailer in Englishtown and the race tech handed you a piece of your piston that was laying on the track haha. You went out with a bang that's for sure!!
Good luck this coming year i'll be watching your progress!!
