AEM Intake vs Apexi

I'm in the market for an intake for my stock IX turbo. I have come down to two intakes. AEM Short Ram, because its a dry filter, has a heat shield, and comes from a name I know. The Apexi unit sounds well engineered, and with its induction box should really help with heat from the motor. I like their lowered turbulence in the intake, but they also utilize the stock intake pipe, which I would think would be restrictive. Who has experience with these intakes? Is there another one I should consider?

BTW, I'm going to get it tuned, and I have considered drop-ins, but i'm pretty set on getting an intake.

Thanks,
Dave

The arc induction box looks ridiculous IMHO. But if its a performer with good filtration I'll give it a closer look. As for the HKS RS Intake, I heard that they had pretty terrible filtration, albeit crazy flow. I'd rather be safer than get a little bit more flow. And I have a AMS TBE in the mail.

Apexi or buschur filter work well with the stock maf. HKS is a good design but has one of the worst filters. I would go with a buschur intake since the filter will come out cheaper when you buy it with the maf pipe. Really no need for a heat shield.

Are you kididng???? I had this intake and it was crap! Had a tune and all. Changed to the Buschur and picked up over 5whp and 7ft lbs. The AEM filter didnt barely last me a 6 months. 2 other guys down here have changed from it and gained power as well. There are many bad post on the forum bout AEM Intakes. Buschur FTW.

Apexi, hands down best filtration. When i got mine it came with a heat shield too. HKS filters are garbage. Not much experience with the AEM but I can say from what I've read the Apexi is usually the prefered cone filter.
