I built this car before U.S. tuners had any real upgrades availaable. It made 550 awhp on C16. If I had to do it again I'd stick with a built 2.0L (rev to 10,000 rpms) and an AMS or Buscher 35r kit. THis was a fun car and very fast but the HKS manifold was a real problem.

Reconsider stroking the engine. I had both a 2.3l and a built 2.0L and much preferred the built 2.0L. I also had the 3037 before the 3240. The 3037 and 3240 share all parts with the exception of the turbo. The weakness is not in the HKS turbo itself, it's in the HKS manifold. AMS and Buschur have performed well over the years but there are other options available. Good luck with your build!

 

there are many kits and turbos alone out there that i would chosse before an hks unit. do some reasearch man

 

I was one the first guy in the states to use the HKS set up - I chose the 3037 unit and then upgraded to the 3040 - the feature on the car back then was in Oct 2003 Modified Magazine

I did a best of 10.9 and 575 whp with that configuration

IMHO the Gt35 is a vastly superior turbo and a lot cheaper than the HKS derivatives

Unless you are a HKS fan boy all their stuff is highly overpriced and their additude sucks
