I'm thinking of upgrading my 2005 VIII turbo to a stock IX turbo. I already have the 10.5 hotside ported, so I'm just thinking of swapping in the center section and whatnot from the IX. Anyone see any issues with this?

You can swap the Hot side that you got now. The one you got has been ported, which is better than the non-ported one that comes with the IX Turbo.

You are also going to need the IX conversion Kit, Water Lines, Oil Line, and Exit Tube.

As to how many miles you got on your car now, get new Gaskets and Cooper Washers for everything.

Enjoy the new Turbo.

Swapping hotsides is very simple.

I'm not asking if it's easy, just asking if they're compatible. I've had the hotside off of the turbo already (i.e. it was ported ) when I installed my SS o2 housing. I'm thinking of just leaving the manifold and hotside in the car, unhooking the coolant and oil lines, intake, and whatnot, and then swapping in the IX guts into my stock hotside. Should be easy enough.

The only difference in the VIII and IX turbo, is the compressor side. That being said, yes, the hotsides are compatible.
