also, look at the fast drag cars...I've seen more than a few ditch the stroker to go back to the 2.0l so they can spin it higher..again, power under 6k or so doesn't mean squat on the drag strip because you'll never be lower than that anyway.

i say:

2.3L for low end torque & if built correctly can rev to 8K + if u road race it

2.0L for drag & top speed runs...

Nobody here is arguing that the 2.0 litre is not better for dragging. But I suggest that with any mixed use vehicle, the person will be happier with the stroker because most of us don't ring our cars out to 9k on the streets daily driving.

It's simply unpleasant to have to ring the engine out all the time.

And to those saying ask David Buschur... well he is quoted as saying 2.0 litre + 35R is just not fun for a daily driver. It's too laggy.

i am so so so confused..i need to make a decision now!!!!!!!!!!!
i am ordering monday

i cruise alot in this car..i also race..i visit the drag strip only 3 months of the year (jan-april)..twice a month...
however i run with lots of big cars on the streets...we dont always have access to the strip here..so i run those big boys...porches turbos...ferraris..z06s and amgs...
this is the purpose of the car..and i really cant decide...
i consider this a big investment and i want to make the wise choice..

i have never been in a big turbo evo..so its hard for me to decide..
now that you know scenario...i hope you could suggest and help me make up my mind...

thanks

my car makes more power the higher I spin it and when I shift at 8k or so I land around 5500-6k and the power increases towards redline again. I'd like to be able to spin to ~ 9k so I land in peak power...that's how you get down the track faster.
so u drop 2000 rpms shifting..you better stop granny shifting.. i lose bout 1000 to 1100 tops. even if the rear diff sounds like its gonna fall out.. F it

If you are going to do most of your racign from a dead stop, definitely go with the 2.0L. If youre going to do alot of roll racing from 40-60 up to around 130mph or so, Id do the 2.3L because the midrange is much better along with quicker spool. If youre going to do 65+ rolls ons up to crazy speeds, do the 2.0L.

if it was my money id build a 2.0 from BR, and them bolt on a 35r me personally would have tons of fun with that.

or if money is a concern, get a 20G turbo ,,,,

but botom line id get a 2.0 from BR this guy can build some amazing engines, i have 2 friends now that are running his engine and they seem supper happy,,

That's what Dave Buschur suggested when I did my build up. Who am I to argue with him about it.

how do you like your car?? how is the spool...when do you hit full boost and what is it set at?
does it feel fast? does it keep pulling on top end? how high are you revving?

thanks in advance and sorry to throw all those questions at you..

I've got the AMS 2.3 liter and couldnt be happier. It just really depends on what you want with your car. If its only a drag car that will only do highway pulls get the 2.0 it would be the best at the 1/4 mile . If you like daily driveablity with fast spool up for fun on the street and still do decent at the 1/4 mile get the 2.3 it would also be great on a road track

but your sayin you drag every weekend so hell go with the 2.0

You just said you're only going to take it to the strip a few times. If you're going to roll-race all of those exotics you listed, you have to ask yourself how you want the race to go down?

1) With a 2.0L + 35r (less torque than a 2.3L, but longer top-end), you'll being giving up some torque at the get-go, and will end up trying to play catch up the whole time. That can work, but you need a good amount more whp to gain back ground on somebody that is already pulling on you.

-or-

2) The 2.3L + 35r will give more torque to break the inertia at say, a 40mph roll. You won't be giving up that initial "punch" and having to catch up.

Personally, I like a decisive win, without ever being behind. Catch up only works if you have a lot more power, more road to allow for the catch-up, and you're racing to relatively high speeds.
