How about a flywheel, is it going to be bad to just have it turned?

All you are going to get are opinions. If you want facts, call a tranny shop that deals with evos, such as TRE or Shep.

Having the wrong clutch can really toast your transmission and or trans case if you don't know how to launch it or shift properly.

Jon at TRE is one of the best guys to ask on the subject, as he will talk to you for as long as you can stand him, and if you ask, he will tell you every detail as to why the transmissions like certain clutches, and what will really save you money and heartache in the long run.

Search Team Rip Engineering on google. He is one of the best.

It's best to have the flywheel checked before replacing it or putting it back in the car. Depending on its condition they can usually be resurfaced and reused.

Here we go again with a thread like this. I think about a million other people asked the same question beacuse they "couldnt afford" the Exedy.

This is what I recommend.
1. Decide which clutches you are debating on buying.
2. Search each one of the clutches independently on the forum and read all of the information that you can on BOTH of them.
3. Make your own decision on what you should do because there are a million people that will say ACT and the other million will say Exedy. Also as you go through the threads take notice to what kind of clutches people are running in their "signatures" and this should be a good signal of which way to go.

If your clutch is just starting to slip then stay off the boost and launches etc. and Save the clutch while saving money and get the Exedy IMO. But bottomline and dont forget make up your own mind and MOST IMPORTANTLY DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THE TWO CLUTCHES BEFORE BUYING!!!!!

Another good option for the flywheel is to buy a reconditioned stock flywheel from TTP:

I know that the exedy twin Hd is amazing but I can't spend 1700 on a clutch. Was looking into the ACT clutch, any other recommedations?
BTW I dont know if you know it and I dont think anyone said it but the Exedy can be found brand new for alot less than $1,700. I certainly didnt pay that much for it. I dont think I even paid that much for the clutch + install....

If $2000+ is not in your budget for a twindisc and install, there is no point in even looking there.

We ran 10.9 @ 130mph on a stock resurfaced flywheel and ACT XTSS clutch.

Our niche market is showing others that you can have excellent results with a budget.

The HD-TTP cerametallic ACT unit is the one we currently recommend for drag racing / street use under 550whp.

The HDSS street disc is also a nice option for a more stocklike feel to 500whp.

We stock most ACT clutches and flywheels for the EVO application on the shelves and would be happy to recommend and price out a custom order for you including an ACT flywheel or one of our reconditioned flywheels already resurfaced for install.

Being that you live in Gainesville, its a reasonable trip out here in Orlando to get your clutch in stock and installed the same day 4-6hrs (10hrs by the dealer) by the most experienced Evo driveline expert in the Southeast USA. We install over 100 Evo clutches a year and are ASE Certified.

I'm actually from the orlando area, titusville to be specific, I live in gainesville to go to UF. TTP, could you pm me some details, I would be looking for a quote that includes the act street clutch, stock resurfaced flywheel, and install. Also, could you give me a breakdown of the pricing instead of just a grand total, thanks in advance.

I know that its a great clutch, but I just can't see spending that much money on it when I could be putting to toward what I really want and thats the FP Green.

What possesses you to buy radical clutches that don't work and no one uses?

Use what is proven, affordable and quality.

$1500 for an HKS clutch? The joke is on you if you decide on that unit.

ACT units are a third of the price and three times the quality.

Make an educated decision.
