I did a fluid change 10k miles ago (currently at 40k), used penzoil syncromesh. When I downshift and do not rev match enough I hear a weird sound, kinda like metal on metal rubbing. It also does this when I don't upshift fast enough also. So, i'm wondering what you guys might think the problem is.

 

umm changing your fluids asap would be a good start

30k is the interval mitsu designates under regular abuse

 

Yeah, I'm going to go get some mits fluid this weekend and see if that helps. I usually just drive on the highway so that's the reason why i only do the normal changes.

Well it looks like i'm changing my fluid asap. Lucky for me I don't do any racing and just use my car for DD which is mostly 5th gear on the highway.
