Twin charging (again)

I've seen twin charged AW11 and sw20's...but what is that?^^^
so evotech...what size turbo are you planning to tuck rear-mount? I think it would be better to have a turbo near factory location and then one in a similar location to wear AMS has theirs...saves lots of exhaust energy and spool up time.

But, in my mental plans I would keep the stock turbo location and not worry about the lossees from the long piping as I don't think it would be too much of an issue. Such a setup would not be for setting records or building a race car. AMS, Buschur etc. have already proven that one gigantic turbo can get the job done just fine for drag racing. This would be aimed at building the ultimate street car with stock like boost response and big turbo power wrapped up in one package that does not require totally reconfiguring your engine bay. Talk about a sleeper! All that you would see is one extra pipe running to the intercooler and an extra intake somewhere.
One way of thinking about it.....look at how the Gen 3 93-95 RX7 sequential twin turbos were set up....i got one at my house that i have been working on....something to think about. Now using it on a piston motor will make it acted alittle different then rotory.....just something to think about...
This Thread is about Twin-turboing, not twin charging. There are some new examples of twin charging, such as Volkswagon in europe. They use a 1.4L motor that is both supercharged and Turboed. The ideal situation is to have the turbo feed the blower, since the turbo flows more than the supercharger, it's less of a "choking point" that way. Also on the VW, the supercharger runs a clutched pulley, so when the turbo takes over, the blower shuts off, and air is diverted around the blower in a "bypass tube", which ironically becomes the main flow air.
If going for power, either twincharging, or sequential twin turboing, seems to be not as good as just going to a larger turbo. Aren't the rx7's and/or Supras sequential? Most people just opt for a single turbo for more power.
If going for fast spool and low end power, both are good options, if you have the time and money. Not to say that you won't have good high end power, but most likely not as good as a single larger turbo.

lot of subie haters on here... i had an sti, i loved it. It felt like a v8 stock with ****load of response and torque... unlike my evo ix which felt laggy and unresponsive in stock form. Now, once you get into heavy modding, yea the evo is king.
