best turbo for the price?

ive been looking at a few turbo kits and turbos for my evo 8 and im still confused on what i should get. if anyone wants to please throw out some suggestions on what i should invest in buying.

one turbo i have been leaning towards is the forced performance green turbo.

im also not looking for some insane power gains either, for example im NOT looking to build some 1000 hp.

thanks for the help.

You only consider 1000 to be insane? 600-700 is pretty insane, too. The "best buy" COMPLETELY depends on your goals. The FP Green is a great turbo, but it's just a modified stock turbo, so it's limited. With NO caveats from you other than saying you don't need 1000HP, I would say the stock IX turbo is the best turbo for the price. However, I don't think that's really your question. If you want a better answer, you'll need to ask a better question (more specific).

Warrtalon is right what is your hp goal. How do you want your car to run???? z06 fast or just way faster than your normal car. 400 whp is fast. you could do that with the fpgreen with alky, cams, tune. No problem when you want to go faster 500 hp. Go 50 trim. If you have e85 in your area that makes a difference too...

my opinion is..

400whp - fp green
450-650whp - 35r hta
650-750whp- 67 ptrim
750-1100whp - gt 42r

You should invest in a lot more research before buying a turbo. When you do buy a trubo, you should be well versed in the pluses and minuses of all the turbos out there because you have spent a lot of time researching. There is also up to about 375 whp in the stock turbo which is awfully fast. Invest in the bolt ons leading up to the turbo upgrade first.

Agreed. I think it would be good if the vendors out there would refust to sell turbos unless the customer was already making 350 WHP on the stock turbo first. Of course, this would probably be bad for their business, but I think we would see a bit higher overall intelligence in the Evo community rather than the mindless lemmings out there simply bolting on a GT35R and then complaining about things like turbo lag.

if you primarily run pump gas, just get a evo9 turbo.

i have a fp-grn, it makes great power, but i wonder if a evo 9 would have got me 90% of where i am at now for a lot less money....for only running on 91 octane.

+1. the evo green in an outstanding turbo for the money. however, as mentioned above, it is limited to how much hp you can achieve. im upgrading to a green now b/c my stocker just failed on me. im gettin it for the price cuz its pretty fair price for the power achievable. im gonna upgrade to probably a 30r maybe even 35r in the future so im building my block now while the cars down. good luck with your decision

I have a buschur 35R kit with about 500miles on it that Im selling. Like others have said, it makes in the 400-650 range of power. When I had it on my car it felt and sounded awesome. On 18LBS of boost I trapped 97mph in the 1/8 mile. ICP blew off before I completed the run. previously I ran a 12.18. I was doing 89mph at the 1/8 on 20LBS. PM me if interested

well right now im asking this question because i am looking for more opinions. i mean i haved searched and even though there is alot of information here there is alot of mixed opinions.

i have considered an evo 9 turbo as well. i don't want a bunch of turbo lag like it would be having a bigger turbo.

before i get another turbo i am going to do a full exhaust from the manifold back with a megan racing exhaust manifold. fuel pump, boost controler, ic piping probalby some other stuff as well.

also i do just run 91 octane which is all i have access to this is one big factor for my car as well.

Don't get the Megan Racing manifold. Port the stock one instead. It'll get you better gains and still be resistant to cracking. Fuel pump is a must, IC piping is overrated. Just get the Samco IC couplers and some t-bolt clamps. A Pipercross drop-in filter, a good quality MBC (Forge UNOS or Hallman), a Megan Racing O2 housing, and a 3 inch turbo-back exhaust will probably get you more gains that you think. Perhaps change to the 10.5 hotside for your stock Evo 8 turbo as well.

Finally, don't forget to get it all tuned.

if u want more than 400awhp but less than 500, consider a 30r (3076 and 3065 comes to mind)
