cam question
cam question
to those that have a evo ix with cosworth 272 cams did you upgrade ur valvetrain, lifers and head studs. curious to know because i have these cams and want 2do everything correct
from what i understand, cuz i want them too. If you are going to keep ur limiter to 7000 rpms, you will be fine, but headstuds, valvesprings/retainers and headgasket would be a safe way to go, i think.

yeah im gettin retainers and springs with my cosworths.........you should anyways since you will be working in the area. i might even do my valves and pistons
You will not NEED valvesprings and retainers for there lower lift cam. I would highly recommend headstuds.
If you are doing something like an M3 that has a high lift you do need to do the springs and retainers.

since u will have the cams out definetly replace the head studs cuz u will be working in that area anyways. i have the m3 cossies. i purchased the spring and retainers along with the head studs and new head gasket. i will be taking my head off for machinework and 1mm oversized valves. but if u just want the cams installed u will be fine without the springs and retainers just have them set ur rev limiter to about 75-7800 rpms as everyone else has stated above
