I installed my MBC yesterday and after driving off today I noticed that the car is making a whistling sound under partial throttle in boost. When I get on full throttle the car feels like it is boosting fine but I no longer get the power increase at around 4200 under the mivec falls off. Any help guys?

did you just get a cone intake and (or) new UICP???? mine did that too when i installed my UICP, MBC and cone intake. dont know which one made it do that sound cause i installed them at once........

 

I just installed a ets intake yesterday and i get that sound too under partial throttle but half throttle or more I don't hear it

 

thats what intake i got too. i get it sometimes when i blip the throttle at a constant speed.

 

No intake, no uicp, all stock. That's why I can't try to figure out where it is leaking or if it is at all. I will be doing a boost leak test but first I wanted to see what you guys think.

boost leak test will heopfully let you find where the sound is coming from then......good luck

 

do a boost, vacuum leak test.

 

I got it. It was not a boost leak at all. I forgot to set the boost controller. I thought I had already set it but when I looked at it it was turned counterclockwise all the way. thanks for the input guys.

 

are you tuned for the boost you are running out of curiosity?

make sure you run what the car is tuned for...this isn't meant to solve your problem...I just don't want you to blow up your car

 

It was making noise just because you were running minimum boost? Are you sure? Did you really not notice that 11psi felt WAY different? You did runs 11s in your previous Evo, yah?

 

Of course I noticed the difference, if I didn't notice a difference of how much slower it was I wouldnt have suspected a boost leak. I thought I had turned up the boost but I was wrong. The noise I was hearing was just the turbo and being away from the EVO scene for almost a year I have forgotten a lot of noises these cars make. As far as 11s, I have people that know I have ran 11s here, 4 wheel slide one of them and GTB/ZR-1(George) the person who bought my car and has all the timeslips that I gave him.
