sbc i-color, really accurate and same experience with a Mustang Dyno, wideband giving almost the same readings

I was impressed too! Could not believe how accurate the sbc icolor is with respect to dyno numbers. Even the plotted HP/TQ curves looked like the ones on the dyno.

Not to mention with n electronic boost controller u can controll boost in each gear (depending on your controller)

True!

Also, some will let you choose different levels of boost depending on RPM or Speed.

For example.... 25 PSI from 1000-4000 RPMs and 23 PSI from 4000-8000 RPMs. Not saying that this is a good real example for any setup but that it can be done with some EBCs.

Depending your main goal (Autocross, Drag, Race Fuel, Meth or a mix), an EBC can ease some tuning tasks or to better use the turbo efficiency.

Hallman - Have seen it working very good on many applications. The one with the ceramic ball seems to be very fast reacting to changes in boost.

Forge - Have a click mechanism to let you know how many turns you have for your desired boost level. Worked very good on my stock and green turbo setups.

I WANT to say the Hallman has a click, or something similar, to the Forge controller now.

i think the electronic has another perk to it.

you can set the wastegate crack pressure for faster spool...someone can correct me if i'm wrong though

Thumbs up

AndyBandy,

What do you mean by "setting wastegate crack pressure"? If I understand correctly, this would be related to the gain in relation to the solenoid duty cycle. You can not change the physical spring tension in the wastegate from the EBC. Basically, you cheat the spring to stay closed for a longer time.

However, on that note.... you have two options on my EBC which is Automatic and manual..... on Automatic the EBC uses its internal boost sending unit (used for the boost gauge) as feedback to adjust the current boost pressure. By playing with the gain and learning speed settings you can change the charactestics on how the car will spool! It needs to be tuned/tweaked in order to behave the way you want it!

On manual, you are on your own and the car may overboost/spike if you do not know what are you doing. Item number 2 on my post!

So, at the end you have more flexibility/options on how the boost curve will look using an EBC! It is a freaking pain to get into that and quite honestly can get your tune out a bit if you had your car fine tuned for a preset boost. In my particular case, I gained around 2 PSI at top end (7000-8000) over which threw off my fuel tune for about 0.5 AFRs. So, instead of ~330s WHP, I got ~350 WHP.

Just my 0.02!

My pocket says MBC ftw.

I guess it really just depends on your budget.

Yeah my greddy profec spec B was a pain in the nuggets to tune, but if you had the "gains" adjusted correctly for the "set" peak boost limit, and it set on automatic where the solenoid will interpolate for you to hold peak boost...it seemed like it would spool faster i'm guessing because the wastegate was closed until it neared peak boost setting.

i'm going to try to research how the ebc fools the wastegate (physically). I can believe that it does it, but i'm not up on my wastegate / ebc relationships.

Thanks
