cam question

got cams installed 1 week ago 600 miles has been put on it since, i got hks 272i 264e installed and everything was done properly, bleeded and torqued to the right specs, it ticks for a few minutes on start up but goes away after its warm , but the problem is that i have a tick in the 2000-3500 rpm range, i can hear it on the freeway, and when i rev it up at idle, this after its warmed up. sound like something is loose in the valve cover. this does not happen at idle or above 4k. my car has 35k and it was not doing this before cams or right after, just recently. any ideas what it might be? can this be normal, i thought cams should only make noise on start up not after the engine is warm.

update: installed jam lifters but sound was still there after install, but then went away after driving for a little while and then came back again, and went away again. can i get some more input by watching the video.

how many miles on the lifters? It sounds like lifter tick. It's common, but I wouldn't say it's normal.

If you can pinpoint from which lifter, then try rebleeding it. What weight oil are you running? Sometimes a tiny spec of foreign matter will clog the lifter.

well bleeding the lifters will be difficult because i did not do the install and do not know how to do this, do you guys think that maybe this tick will go away after a while or could it get worse or even possibily cause damage if not corrected?

You have to take the cam out to bleed the lifters... so you are basically doing the install again.

it's lifter tick. You need to bleed them again, and hope you haven't collapsed a lifter. You won't experience major failure from this, but you can induce excess wear on either the cam or the rocker over time.

Where in Houston are you located? Who did the cam install?

I have this same problem too. Took out the cams re-bleed the lifters, I even soaked them in gas for an hour. re-bleed them again and after two days the damn noise came back.

So my question is, how do you tell when a lifter is collapsed? Because when I bleed the lifters they all felt the same. Is there a way to tell?

i went to dallas and had kevind install my cams, does anyone know where i can take my car around houston to check this out? i would drive to dallas but i'm afraid i will damage engine, because the ticking was not evident at first but is getting louder little by littlem i was thinking about buying a set of zero tick lifters.
