And trust me im only doing this out of good faith, but I do want that other hotside back before i do anything else if you guys are not going to use it.

Paypal wouldnt give him a dime back on this deal because you guys altered it. So since im not a bastard i'm going to dig out of my bill money "since its that time of the month " to have to fix this for him. Oh and im going to slap the **** out of my buddy for not telling me about this sooner.

Or

B. Find a used one on here and ill pay for it to be sent to him. but im not paying alot for it this is rediculous that the fact that it can be used still but your basically telling me that you dont want to deal with it.
copper silicone is a band aid... and dealing with it is what we are trying to do to make it work, what you are trying to say is settle with it being not 100% in the hopes that it may work. so IMO option A is not an option. Option B is the only option, but i wouldnt pay more than 150 for a hotside with shipping

my stud comment was a joke... basically saying i broke 3 or 4 drill bits just trying to cut into it so whatever that stud has become, its a monster

Your good faith...

Thats why i said you were class act with this situation... so many people would say well i've got your money, its your problem, deal with it.

Paypal may do something, they may not, its altered yes, but you knew it had to be taken to a shop to get it fixed, however what the shop decides is the best way to get it fixed is up to them. In this case, their attempts did not work. Doesnt make them wrong, just makes them unsuccessful at getting the studs out. Either way, this shouldnt escalate to a paypal claim. You are willing to do what you need to to help, and im sure he is willing to work with you. Im trying to find him other options and solutions as well. I will know something by tonight if we can try and use this or not. Just understand, if you get a PM saying we have found a way to maybe make this work and are going to try it... that may not be the last one, because a week later, when im tuning it on the dyno and pushing the car causes the exhaust to swell and a leak to appear, the problem was not fixed, its the copper band aid peeling off.

Sounds like an honest mis-understanding on the seller's side and a legit effort on the buyers side too.

Since the seller was willing to pay reasonable machine shop fees, I suggest that he reimburses buyer for a used but useable hot side ($125?). That way both sides have made honorable efforts and the turbo will be useable as advertised.

BTW, There are several progressive steps to stud removal. Eventually, you will need to get down and dirty with the part if basic methods dont work. We have a local guy who does EDM (electronic disintegration of metal I think) and he can remove anything from anything but its not cheap, but poss worth it in hindsight.

Hope you guys work it out nicely.

Honestly I cant even afford more then 125 until my income tax check comes in haha. but i agree i'll up the bill for 125 or if he finds one cheaper but id like the hotside i sent back. I'm sure i can get it out here locally if my shop can do it I know a guy that can for sure.

I suggested just sticking his 9.8 on so he can have his car back on the road until we get this settled. I mean its just an options unless he doesnt want to and end up waiting on the car.

BTW Garrent told me to stick copper RTV on there turbo "FOR" a gasket lol so i mean whatever works works in my opinion. But I understand you guys not wanting to use it with out all 5 bolts. It was "SUPPOSE" to have 2 studs in it but it just had the threads from when i bought it from mitsu so it honestly need's the studs not bolts. As to why i only use 3 bolts and no studs

We thought about that, but the 9.8 will not fit on the IX turbo ... found that out a year or so back.... so fortunately for him, we didnt even bother trying the install until we could mount the O2 to the hotside. His car is driveable. Im looking for hotsides now in the part out section. Found 1 for 150 shipped so far... .just waiting on a PM back. Other then that, if you could, be proactive in looking and see what you can find. I will continue on my end, and hopefully he will and we can figure something out sooner than later. If we find a new hotside to use, we will definitely send this one back to you... maybe your guys are better than ours lol. Im still going to attempt round 2 tonight and see if i can work some magic to save you both some money

That would be great lol. I should have told him to send the hotside straight back to me to be fixed its my fault i assumed he could find someone to remove it. Ive had the same bolts taken out of a 8 turbo with no problems except for a few broken bits. Obviously you saw that 2 of the bolts were already pre tapped for a EZ out from what i was told. and the 3rd one im assuming that is giving you guys a problem he told me that the bit broke and he was going to retry the next day but he had some family things to attend to. I can get it out if its not "Welded" to the manifold haha even so It can still be taken out and if its warped ill just get it machine flat again no big deal just try if you can to see if it can be fixed because if you guys wait on me for the money it might be a week or 2 depending on how fast i get this tax return.

Not my fight, but just curious how long you figure any sealant will hold up to a turbine housing's heat? Haven't you ever seen a picture of an exhaust housing glowing amber red.

Can you post up some pics of the warped surface with a straight edge held across it and a light shining from behind it? I'd like to see this puppy. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words.

in this case the words would be really bad... its not the sellers fault either. The process of getting that last stud out has made lots of issues with the hotside. It wont come out. I didnt get a chance to pull it out or try to last night. Im going to hit it up this weekend.

overall, the situation will be handled whichever route that happens to be, i dont know... but both parties are working to make it right.
