GSC 272 or GSC S1 series cams?

On my last thread I got good info on cams but now I ran into something else that I didn't know about. Which cams are better, the GSC 264, 272's or the GSC S1 series. I didn't know they had GSC 272's until I was just doing some research and came across them. Are they near the same or are the S1's still better?

I know im a newb to this forum, but ive been reading it for a while... IMO if you are planning on staying with a stock turbo the S1 cams would be better suited but if you are going for a GT35 or bigger go with the S2 272s

I dont know if you are interested in this, or what you are looking for. But the 272 will make more power over the entire power band. If im not mistaken, the S1s are like 268s or something around there. But from what I have found so car the Brian Crower 272s make more power over the whole band then GSC, and are about half the price. I have the BC 272s and they pull hard. My friend has the GSC 272s, and between the 2 for the price difference, BC is deffinately the way Id go. U HAVE PM!

You have heard wrong. Bigger is not always better.

I just came across some GSC 272s on Lancershop. I didn't know there were 2 different ones. GSC and S1 series. Also a guy up here is selling a pair of 264s. I'm going with a stock evo 9 turbo. I'm researching parts I want and come here to see which ones would be a better choice.

Mine pull hard, the only reason Im selling them is because I am going with 280s and springs and retainers so that I can rev higher and have more power up top for drag racing. I noticed a HUGE difference over the stock cams with mine, but not enough for drag racing.

On topic however, Sorry that my info on the sizes were off, thats just the information I was receiving when I was looking into cams. I understand it has to do with the lift and duration an so forth, but I was told that the 272s made more power than the S1s.

As for your set-up, that is what I have, the 272s on an evo 9 turbo.

Well I dnt know that much about cams but the lift on the S1 series is 10.5 on the Intake and Exhaust side. Brian Crowers are 10.5 on the Intake and 9.8 on the Exhaust.

I did look at your forum and I was considering it but if the S1s make more power, I would like to go with them. I just want some good cams, ****....lol

Yea I know what you mean about power. I got offered a great deal on a set of crower 280s with springs and retainers so I had to take it. I am only selling mine due to the fact of I have to get rid of them now that I have the 280s coming and I need some of the cash back! The 272s are great for driving around and most people cant tell you have them. But Im at the point where people can tell my car has stuff done to it so Im not too worried about the lope of the 280s and people knowing.

I would hope they make the most power when they are almost $700! Arent the cossi also like the JUN 272 where they are nearly impossible to tune on the stock ecu? They also need upgraded springs and retainers for their 272s, GSC and Crower do not need the springs and retainers untill you get to the 280s.

Cossie 272 don't need springs if you keep your stock redline. If you go any higher springs and retainers need to be upgraded.

Cossie 272 and S1 make the same power, through the whole band, on a Stock and Green turbo. Cossie are only $570 shipped on these boards. They are cheaper then S1 cams.
