100% Meth burning up IAC Valve
Yes,it may be kit design and that could be the whole problem. Lets find out what kits people are using that are having the problem and see if it is just a design flaw and then contact kit manufactuers so that they can get it corrected. I have had a SMC kit for almost 3 years and have never had an IAC problem. The only problem that I have had is having the pump seals fail after a year or so due to using different sized jet than the kit was designed for(needed to reflash the controller for the jet I am running).Have yet to reinstall as there is snow/sand on the roads so traction is a problem with No Boost.
from what I was told it has to do with the placement of the nozzles but im sure there are other factors. I think personally im sparying to much 50/50 mix 975cc to be exact could this be a problem
I used the cooling mist kit which came wo/ a check valve or flow indication. the symptoms of an bad IAC valve are constant rev above 1500rpms. the other symptom is no idle at all. you will be able to start the car while pumping the gas but it won't keep the idle. instead it will shut off or stall. this problem normally comes after 100k in mileage. So it looks like this is a pretty big problem. the other aspect I am thinking of is the tune using this stuff. it looks like we need to ensure that the atomization needs to be complete. leaky systems are probably a common deal.

here is what the IAC valves look like after the damage is done. the one on the left is the stock one from an 05 evo. Notive how the nipple has been torched. the one on the right is a replacement I got from AMS about 4 months ago. I ordered to like the one on the right and notice the blk stuff on the shiny center and surrounding area. I contribute both cases to the meth. for this valve though , meth actually has to drip into the crack which shows that my system is leaky or spraying to much. In other words, it's the kit or tune.

my car just started with issues similar to the iac going bad. 100% meth user going on 3+ years straight with this car..also i think alot of people may have issues by testing their meth at idle to prime the line or see if the kit is working. I suggest at part throttle and not at idle...
My car started doing this last june...yes its been a while. No one was able to help me but I guess I just need to replace my IAC and that should take care of it. I can't start my car without gassing it and letting it warm up. Once it is warming up, it idles ok I guess. If I make a sudden movement at low speeds my car shuts off, so I have to be careful all the time, especially in the snow. I have had the smc kit for almost 2 years, this happening after the first.
interesting; this is the first time i hear of this problem happening. i run 100% meth and have been running it for about half a year now and haven't noticed any problems. i guess it's a hit or miss thing as other have stated but i also believe a solenoid shut-off valve should be used, which i need to get by the way.
My current IAC (when my car was running) I'd have to let it warm up sometimes in order to get it idling properly. It's gotten progressively worse and I have a replacement IAC which will be the 3rd one in the car to fix the issue. I ran meth last year just a couple times but that was with an SMC kit.
The first IAC failure (no methanol ever used) I had the car just wouldn't idle period. This one has been a slow failure that had gotten worse over the course of a month whiole my car was still up and running. Like I said a year ago I experiemented with methanol injection and had no problems and it ran fine for a while until it started to go this year.
