100% Meth burning up IAC Valve
100% Meth burning up IAC Valve
I have seen a thread about this issue but I want to know if anyone know of a fix. if not then my only solution is to go to 50/50 or use washer fluid. I would like the extra horses but calling AMS, Buscher and everyone else for more IACV's every few months is costing me. Who's got the cure?
Perform a WOT pull, turn car off, and immediately remove the stepper. If methanol is present then your spraying too much. I roasted one up 2 years ago and I still get a little accumilation of methanol in the TB now, but the entire idle control system is disabled and blocked so it doesnt hurt anything. In my case a smaller nozzle would eliminate excessive saturation once the TB is closed but I enjoy the large dose at midrange and dont really want to go with a nozzzle half the size. It's a trade off.
Another thing, if your using 100% methanol the saturation is flammible, but if you run 80% there is much less chance of fire and the only problem you have is idle problems

thanks for the info. i thought the big nozzle might be the problem. I have been having boost cut cause of cold weather and having to change the boost. I think I might go for the blue stuff just to be safe. I am using it with a 35r soon so maybe I can reach 450Whp. Any one have a testimony with using washer fluid?
it doesn't have a check valve which also cold be a problem. I should probably look into that. it came from cooling mist here in atlanta, ga. IAC is your Idle Air Control valve. it is located on the bottom of your throttle body and has a little nipple with a spring on it. the little nipple is what burns up because the meth is corrosive to it. I will post a picture of one that I had to replace.
