50 trim dyno'd

Hey guys,

I just had my evo 5 tuned here in Manila for track use this weekend and I just want to add a little more information about the 50 trim. The car was tuned primarily to have a good margin of safety for the track. It has a 50 trim by Garrett, and it made 320 whp @ 7118 rpm and only 17psi of boost. AFR was at 11.7 and the torque figures were 370.5 lb.ft @ 4541 rpm.

Full spool is just above 4250 rpm. This turbo is good enough for our streets here in Manila and more than enough (for my taste) for the track. As you can see, there's a lot more power to be made since all this tuning was conservative and just from an S-AFC.

I will be tuning again with a stand alone or flash soon. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for viewing...

Cheers!

that A/F ratio seems too high for that kind of boost level...also hp figures seem too low...compared to torque..what dyno?

Yeah we tuned for torque on the track, and yes I still use my good ol' s-afc in my good ol' evo 5 until now. I've been waiting for a good engine management system to buy and I'm quite chuffed that the AEM Ignition and Fuel Tuning device has been released. It's not quite practical for me to have a flash since it's way too expensive to have one here. As for other engine management systems, well I have my own reasons why I never tried them out.

So I'll be ordering that AEM controller soon, and I'll be posting new numbers as I tune it further. As for the power output, remember that we are only given inferior fuel back here, no 100 octane to use and purchase everywhere, plus the weather will never work with us as we have to endure 32 degrees celsius and above, and humidity which will never really bring out what this engine is capable of.

The hp seems about right, figure 10-12 hp for each additional psi increase on pump. The torque sounds good though, especially since that was what you were after.

I don't understand the logic behind this statement. How is a flash more expensive than an EMS, or expensive in any way for that matter? Properly tuning and EMS requires at least as much system-specific tuning knowledge as flashing a car, or hiring a tuner, and/or a dyno as a flash. It would seem that a flash would be easier and more cost effective in every possible way based on the criteria you listed in your post. Am I missing something?
Hes got a Evo 5- so the only way to flash is with EcuTek and you have to sell a small child to pay for that.

Thanks 04AWD and mrdevo... I think I did get what I tuned for!

No problem, hokiruu.

I'll be buying 780cc injectors soon together with the AEM Fuel and Ignition Controller. I haven't seen any reviews of this though, but I think this is exactly what I'm looking for.
