Problem with FP EVO Green Turbo

Has anyone had or heard of any internal wastegate failures on the FP EVO Green turbo. I am talking about the flapper valve internally. Seems that mine broke. So externally I can rotate the wastegate arm 360 degrees, meaning that inside the wastegate flapper is broken. Haven't pulled the turbo out yet but just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same issue.

Only had the turbo for about 3 months, 3000 miles.

I believe another member had the flapper completely break off.

Where did you get the turbo? Was it your own stocker that was modified or a new one from FP?

Just call FP after you have pulled it and can confirm exactly what you see. They didn't get their stellar reputation for building turbos by sending out turbos that they don't stand behind.

I bought the unit new with the the FP 18psi HP actuator from JSC Speed back in Oct. 2007. I plan to send it in to FP for warranty. Tried calling today during their business hours but no answer. I hope their turnaround time is quick.

E-mailed FP and they responded pretty quick. I will remove the turbo this weekend and send it in. Keep everyone posted. Customer service is good so far. I hope they warranty the turbo, and get it back to me quickly.

what exactly happens when the flapper breaks inside? only reason i ask is that on my stock 9 turbo, for some reason it spikes 24 psi and then tapers to 16 psi but when i hook a boost leak tester up to it, there are no leaks what so ever. maybe the waste gate broke? the turbo doesnt even have 10k miles on it yet.

I would think that if the wastegate flapper on your turbo broke, it wouldn't be able to build any boost. 24 falling to 16 doesn't sound like a flapper issue. Maybe a dv not holding boost? How quickly does the boost fall off?

the two times i've dealt with forced performance, they sent me a green about 1 week after i ordered it for a customer. that was amazing as on the receipt they sent me it said there is a 3 week backorder of them. the second time a customer ordered a HTA 35r. took them over 2 months to get it to him so we could get his car done (it was down the entire time). they quoted him it would be ready within the week of ordering it, and after loosing the order, its ready/its not ready, and a bunch of BS they finally got it done. in both cases the turbo was purchased outright, brand new. so from my limited experience with them turn around times from placing an order can be really hit or miss.

sounds like a boost controller issue if you don't have any boost leaks and the turbo spools properly (i.e. not really laggy). try running wastegate pressure (i.e. bypassing the boost controller), and see what the turbo spools to, and what it holds.

Yeah one member had it break off and shoot out from exhaust.
If that happens you just won't build much boost all the way until redline.
