Evo IX turbo worth the upgrade?

I recently bought an Evo IX turbo for a super cheap price on ebay. What im trying to decide is if its worth it to put this turbo on or if i should just sell it and make a profit. Currently the car has a stock 03 turbo with a 9.8cm2 hotside. My mods list consist of.

Comp 272 cams
RNR intake and K&N filter
Walbro 255 lph Fuel pump
Full 3 inch turbo back
AMS Lower Ic pipe

Is the upgrade worth it to me or should i just complete piecing together the 50 trim kit i started to put together. The horsepower im honestly shooting for i would like to do 400whp on pump with an excellent spool and i know its no feasable on the IX turbo. Anyway any comments positive or negitive would be greatly appreciated. Also planning to upgrade the FMIC and Upper IC piping soon as well....

Hell yea, especially since you have an 03 w/ 9.8 hotside. Do it right and you will see some major gains. DO a ported exhaust manifold, port the 10.5 hotside a bit, and get a SS o2 housing (I recommend buschur!). All this and you'll be looking at a solid 35whp gain. I love my IX turbo on my viii.

i have a ix on pump and meth and i should be putting down near 450whp on a dyno jet, there is a very noticable difference between the ix turbo and yours, especially top end.

It's worth the money if you do the install yourself. There were some logs showing a consitent 10% boost in power with just the swap.

Yeah i already have alot of the parts to do a 50trim kit also... Just trying to decide which would keep me happy till i pay the car off. I have had the car since it was brand new in 2003 and would never consider selling or trading it. I got the turbo with a megan 02 outlet also and only paid 390 shipped for the turbo with the tubular outlet J pipe and lines. Also i will do the install myself as i have done everything to my car and everything to my friends car that was making 508whp before nitrous... Currently putting a 2.3 in his car with a GT37R so it just makes my car seem a little sluggish rofl...

The 9 turbo is nice for sure and way better than the 8 turbo, but the 50 trim will definitely make more power which = evo

my vote goes to the 50 trim but thats just my 2 cents I have a 35R

The IX turbo is a great upgrade but if you are already putting together a 50 trim kit then put all the money into that.

Just wanted to say again that I love my IX turbo. I just disabled my alky today to see how she behaved on pump gas. I just added a little fuel and I'm able to run 24psi and pretty decent timing, w/o having to touch much at all. The car still rips through the gears and I'm able to do this on my stock injectors. IDC's are at 107% peak so I'm pretty much maxed out on them

^ I had an 8 with the 9 turbo and HKS 272 cams. I think my cammed 8 with 9 snail was faster than my 9. Well worth the swap. However, as mentioned above if you are looking for 400whp on pump you may want to go bigger. Even the Green might not get you there on pump gas.

Pump gas is 75% of the limitation. If you add meth or race gas you can reach your goals with ease.

I don't get this IX turbo hype.

Help me understand. If I'm not mistaken, the IX turbo ONLY has a bigger compressor housing. EVERYTHING else is the same as the 05' VIII turbo, correct?
