Thank you

The GSC S1 is a 268. A better comparison would be the GSC S2 274/272 cams.
For more info, check out the AMS cam test. It will show you the difference of alot of cams in dyno graphs.

There is alot more to cams than duration number and lift.
Not the easiest thing to explain.

Thanks for everyone that recommended the GSC cams

hey guys pick up this month's turbo magazine. They are saying that the best setup for big power is one that keeps the intake opened longer than the exhaust.

When they ran the crane 272 intake 264 exhaust they saw a 59 whp increase over the stock cams.

The kelford 272/272 setup offered the best gains for a straight 272 setup but maxed out at 544 whp. 15whp less, but the spool up time and idle was better than with the cranes.

(car was a evo 9 with a GT35R, stock cam maxed out at 506whp)

There is so much more to cams then maximum duration. Lift, ramp rate etc.. To see full cams you need other supporting Mods. This is a quote from from TedB on the forums

TedB quote
"A good port job is necessary if you expect to realize the potential of the cams. The factory ports cannot respond to anything over ~10.5mm lift. Therefore, with a stock head, any cam set with over 10.5mm lift is only going to make it more demanding on the valve train, and cannot return additional airflow in exchange. Realize that cams are just one component of the head and valvetrain, and the entire assembly is only as good as the weakest link. Yes, head porting is expensive."[

i got brian crower and making 322 / 330 and rev to 7500 all day . i know with more lift like the hks i can gain more power , but i think i'll just be pushing the evo 8 turbo to much . atleast with the BC i got the 272 duration and like 10.3in and 9.8ex lift it allows me to hold boost while still making good power. my low end tq is amazing i am holding over 300 ftlbs of tq from 3500 to 7500rpms and my hp comes on smooth and just keeps climbing all the way to redline. so for stock head with the stock evo 8 turbo 9.8 hotside my car is doing good. when i go fp red then i'll drop in hks 272s and a buscher stage 3 head for some big power

looks like you didn't really search all too well or you would've found this. if you don't want to listen to experience, maybe hard numbers will help you make up your mind.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=343818

remember also that Mivec cams are way different then non mivec. cosworth will do wonders for MIVEC, as Kelford (highly comparable to cosworth) are more of a choice for us non MIVEC evo's. check out the numbers and you can decide what you'll need for your specific power goals!
