2.3l + Gt3071r?

Hi

I am curious to see what spool and performance figures you guys are getting from the GT3071R on a 2.3L Stroker EVO 8 or 9.

I read on one of the posts that it can spool a good few hundred RPM before the GT3076R due to the smaller compressor wheel... So I'm curious as to how far off the results are from the more favoured Green and 3076...

I know there are a few guys on EvoM with this Combo. Not really interested in high peak power figures but more in terms of responsiveness for Road Racing and Motorcross type applications....

So lets see some graphs.

ps. I know lots of guys prefer the Green and Shoot down the GT3071R because its not much more powerful and doest seem to fill the gap between the stock turbo and the 3076... But I'm guessing that boost for boost on a 2.3L the 3071 is the more effecient turbo...

I'm sure the 2.3/ 3071 would make a great responsive car. The 3071 and Green have about the same size wheel, 47 lb/ min, so I don't think you'll see much difference between the two. I doubt you'll find anyone that's actually compared the 2 setups here in the US on a 2.3 because of the popularity of the Green and lack of popularity of the 3071.

Keep us posted on the results.

I think that although the green and the 3071 would flow nearly the same amount of air, because of the more restrictive exhaust side on the green, it would spool faster and also "die off faster" where as the 3071 would spool slightly slower and most likely not taper off as hard.

The exhaust side pretty much dictates spool on a turbo, so I'd be more apt to do the 3076 because the bigger compressor wheel shouldn't hurt spool very much.

I think there is a reason the 3076 is so popular and the 3071 isn't.

I actually have a GT3076R with a Twin Scroll .78 Housing just need to build a custom manifold for it...

I agree: 3071 won't spool faster than a Green, green uses the same twin scroll housing like a stock 16G, so a .63 will be less restrictive, spool later and hold power a bit longer on a 2.3L

The question is will a GT3071R on a 2.3L with a .63
spool close to
Green on a stock 2L bottom end?

I also think if your not looking for 450HP+ then the GT3071R on a 2.3L will be a very good combo for a street car...

2.3+3076+HKS 280s+ C16+30 PSI on the stock ecu.

Would you want 500 ft lbs of tq before 4500rpms?

I was actually wondering about that because my other option is to slap my GT3076 on a Rev-Hard single scroll cast Manifold... But yeah I plan to run 23psi with 93+Alky (HKS 272s) So I'm keen to get the TS mani custom built here in SA... I have a very good tuner.

Let us know your application and I think you'll get more help. Personally, I'm interested in the potential of a 93 octane 2.3 for Auto-x & Road Race with daily driveability...

Yup that was the vishnu manifold/o2 housing with a .82 A/R 3076r bolted to it on race gas.

The 30R on pump on a 2.3 will make about 400 whp and 365 ft lbs of tq at sane boost (23 ish psi none of this Buschur 30 psi on pump nonsense

Sure Sure:
Stg 2 Evo :- ECUFlash, Water-Meth, HKS Ex, HKS 272, Warlbro...

Got some parts lying im my lounge that will be installed in the next month or 2:

Grupp_S 2.3L Stroker kit
GT3076R TS .78
PTE 780's
ACT 6 puck solid disk clutch kit

+ a few other odds and ends.

1st prize is to keep my Evo IX spooling as close to stock as possible for Auto-x & Road Race...

The relevance of the GT3071R is tha I figure that with a .78 TS GT3076R I will spool similar to a single scroll .63 GT3071R vut jus make a bit more power...

TS is a more costly and challenging setup - for me its worth it for the few extra HP but majority of guys out here just want a simpler upgrade over stock with a 2.3L.

My original plan was a stealth setup 2.3L with FPGreen, until I figured out that a green would tapper a bit too much for my liking on a 2.3L skiped the ATP GT3071R kir and went straight for a .78 TS GT3076R.

But yeah for Road-race and Auto-X + streetability I still think the 2.3L stroker with a .63 GT3071R would work just as well...
