E85 question
What would happen if you ran a car that was set up for E85 (fuel pump, 1000cc injectors, tune) and got somewhere where there was no E85. If you put 93 in the tank and stayed out of boost would it be okay. Obviously you would create a rich situation, but dangerously rich? Would anything get hurt. What else could you do?
Thanks in advance

you might want to invest in a laptop/cable and a map for the pump gas just in case you have to switch... if I recall the E85 map would be so rich if used with pump gas... I really don't think it would run!
Do you have any mods done to your car? You need a tactrix cable (www.tactrix.com) so you can have a tuner tune your car for any mods. The program they use to tune your car is usually ecuflash, but other types of engine management exist as well. To run E85 you need an upgraded fuel pump and larger fuel injectors at least. Do a search on e85 and you will find a lot of information.

Gotcha. Then to get home you will need a new tune for what ever pump gas you have available in your area.

i was afraid of that. anywhere i could find a generic 93 oct conservative tune just to get me home then i can find out exactly what all has been done to the car and tune accordingly?

another thought...... if i throw some 600cc injectors in it would that work on the e85 tune??? ( again just to get it home probly 500 miles) That should take care of the rich problem. how hard is it to swap injectors on these?
i know this all sounds stupid but ive never had an evo b4 nor have i dealt with e85. ive had wrx and dsms

E85 Expert
I would suggest contacting Lucas English. You can get contact info from his website www.englishracing.net I would consider Lucas one of the foremost experts on running E85. He was able to give me an E85 map along with a map for 93 octane just in case I wanted to run it instead or none available on a cruise. As well you will need the interconnect cable and a laptop for the flash. Hope this helps.

if you want your evo to run on pump gas and e-85, get an intake manifold with dual fuel injectors, one for your 1000cc injectors and one for your 550cc injectors, and have a switch so you can switch to pump gas if you can't find a e-85 station...ams sells an intake manifold with duel fuel injectors, i think the whole setup will cost around 2g's...
