I thought people where having issues with intake pipes because of the unmetered air entering?

Example:

With the stock setup, fresh air is pulled into the valve cover from the intake pipe after it flows passed the maf (metered). But many intake pipes are capped and you cant run the stock like routes. There for you have no choice but to put a breather filter on the valve cover. With a breather, unmetered air from the atmospher is drawn in and into the intake manifld after the valve cover, and causing idle problems etc...

What don't you like about the AEM one? Lucas seems to prefer the AEM.

Huh? Hard intake pipes are fine. BOVs cause issues.

It does work well, i just don't like where the maft sits, in the end it is just a personal preference

I'm not saying hard intake pipes are bad or will cause problems. What I'm trying to say is any after market intake pipe that forces you to use a breather on the crank case, then it might cause some small problems such as rough idling etc.. due to the unmetered air theory. Unless tuned for it...

I personally think that hard intakes flow better than the stocker because they dont have the ridges inside. And the less bends and angles it has, the better. Similar to exhaust setups with less bends being better.

The rough idle can be tuned out for the most part

Get the PPI intake pipe. Works and fits perfectly.

http://www.paradigmperformance.net/p...vo/intake.html

Has the nipples to connect all the stock hoses, and allows you to use the stock airbox if you still have that, or an open cone filter on the MAF sensor.

That's not a bad looking pipe. Anyone have any upclose pics of where it actually connects to the turbo?

I have the ETS Intake pipe, and my MAF sits right over the Short Route UICP. I used a rubber foam to seperate the two, so there's no vibration or rattling. If I had to do it again, I would get the AEM that comes with a shroud.

Is there something you want to see in particular? I think I have one I can dig up. Its a full 3" pipe that uses a 3" to 2.5".

Thanks for posting the link Evolutionary

The AEM is probably the most hated intake of all. They have a rubber flapper inside that messes with the idle. You can remove it but you are better off with ETS or PPI. Also if you want less drivability issues look for one of the airfilters that bolt directly to the MAF and dont use a maf adapter (ie: buschurs older styled one). One other thing is the HKS air filter filtration isn't the greatest so I would keep them clean. The big thing is the MAF wants to read laminar airflow. Pipes with different bends and airfilters that connect with maf adapters usually affect the maf some. You want the air to come in at the straitest possible angle and not create turbulence.

I ran the PPI style pipe for probably 30K miles with no problems. It is the same size and shape as the stock rubber pipe, just smooth on the inside. If anything I would think it would smooth out flow?? IDK, must my 2 cents. . .
