need help deciding which clutch kit & flywheel

hi, guys... i'm going a little crazy now... for the last 2 days, i've been trying to order the clutch kit & flywheel, getting difference opinions... now i'm confused...

i thought after all the research here, and talked to my mechanic friend, he's car crazy, certified and works at BMW dealership. I decided on ACT Extreme Clutch & Prolite flywheel, then the sales guy kept saying that prolite is so lite weight, 11lbs, it'll affect my drivibility, it'll stall alot, make it very hard to drive daily?!... and I should go with streetligth or something heavier...

any1 has this setup, would give me some input, greatly appreciated

The lighter the flywheel and clutch the less inertia there is providing momentum for the motor...the more likely you will stall it when applying the clutch...but I would think you could adj your style to keep that from happening..the benefit is the motor tends to rev faster as a result of the ligher weight.

What are your mods??

In all honesty, you're going to get a wide range of opinions on this matter but in most threads that I have seen asking the same questions, the consensus has been to get the Exedy Twin Disc set up.

A lighter flywheel does take some getting used to especially on grades going up.

not much mods at this point, got a greddy catback, bov, planning on som bolt-ons, ECU, maybe turbo upgrade in the future. i think my question is that lighter flywheel, would it make it that much harder to drive, especially in traffic.

As asked before what are your mods? I wouldn't go with the extreme if you are lightely modded. I will be making around 450 torque and I just ordered the ACT HD sprung 6 puck with gruppe-s flywheel. That flywheel and the ACT streetlight are basically the same thing. If you drag or dd your car then a prolight is not what you want. Prolights are more for the lap guys. Knowing your mods will allow us to help you further. Pretty much if you are a normal bolt on car making less than 350 torque then the HDSS with gruppe-s flywheel is your best bet. They also have the best price so pm them or give them a call.

It will... but like I said earlier, it will take some time getting used to and you will change your driving style to compensate for it. It's all on you to decide if the benefits outweigh the headaches...

Not to ruin this guys thread, as this question could help him as well...

When I got my ACT / Gruppe-s flywheel combo, it said that the weight of the Gruppe-s flywheel was 11 lbs. On the front page of Gruppe-s's website now are combo offers for the evo with the gruppe-s flywheel weighing in at 15 lbs. In the clutch section of their site, it says it weighs 13 lbs. What is the real weight of the gruppe-s flywheel??? 11, 13 or 15 lbs?

It is 13lbs. Similar to ACT's streetlight.

I would not do a 10.5 flywheel on his application. He has stated that it is a light bolt on car. DD and a little drag cars I would stick with one around 13lbs.

FWIW, I just weighed my Gruppe-s flywheel and it is 10 lbs. I weighed it with a bathroom scale. They must have changed designs.
